IMo they cut things to the bone for it, new ground up design, magna built, no fat they had to try make up some profit on the options list
Yes, I mentioned it before. My previous car was a Jaguar and I really liked the I Pace, however when configuring one it made the Model S look reasonably priced. Which is quite the feat.

Also no discounts from Jaguar, no interesting takeover proposition for my car (the i pace was all new and demand was high).

I was just plugging in my M3 Performance in at my local Tesco a few weeks ago, and the guy next to me was just getting out of his I-Pace.

Him: "What range to you get in that"
Me: "250-300 ish, but doesn't really matter because I use the superchargers for long journeys"
Him: "Wish I'd got one of these instead, the range on this is rubbish"

Thanks, I am going for white exterior and white interior, feel like it's a stupid choice...
I ordered the same combo a couple of days ago - strength in numbers, etc! smile

S wheels are 19", SE and HSE come on 20" which still looks a little small IMHO. The top of the range 22" wheels you see on a lot of press cars are a £3k option on all specs unfortunately.
.
Ah. But.... just been through this as my iPace company car arrives tomorrow! bouncewoohoo

I don’t disagree with comments on looks, but the effect on range of the larger wheels puts me right off. I haven’t got the link to hand (but it was an easy Google) but one of the car sites did a comparison test between (I think) 18” and 21” wheels, and got something like 30 miles more from the smaller set.

Whichever EV you’re looking at, the main conversation is about range. Deliberately knocking 10% off the max for the sake of filling the wheel arches isn’t worth it IMHO. Your mileage may vary.

Back to the OP’s question - a large part of your decision might be what your regular drive looks like? Mine is 65 miles of motorway each way, with half of that usually limited to 50 or below. That probably accounts for 70% of my mileage, with longer trips the next 20%, and only 10% of my miles are an opportunity for involved driving. So my priority is a really nice place to sit, and the iPace wins that contest hands down for me, without sacrificing anything important to the Tesla.

If you don't need the range as you suggest I'd have still gone for the 22's. smile

100% agree that if the iPace overall package works for you it's a fantastic place to spend time and better suited to a comfortable commuting role than the M3P. It's still the only EV other then the Model 3 I actually like as it's a proper ground up EV design rather than a compromised shared platform effort.

I wanted something for B Road blasts and mainly short journeys so the M3P worked better for me. With your usage I'd have had a much harder decision on my hands.

Enjoy, I'm sure it'll be a cracking companion.

I was at the services in the M1 the other day. Pulled up to charge my i-Pace and there was a smouldering wreck in the next bay.

Him: "Does your car get warm when charging?"
Me: "Not really..."
Him: "My M3 Performance caught fire and now I'm on hold with Tesla arguing about the warranty!"

Apparently they were saying he had autopilot engaged but didn't put his hands on the wheel for 37 seconds before the fire started so it's his fault.

aestetix1 and under his previous handle kuro68k - that he knows a woman who chose to buy an Elise over a Model 3 because it was less compromised on interior space and found it easier to get out of, even in her Friday-night-tight skirt...

Wow some people are thick. I'm mocking you, I'm having a laugh at your expense. I'm suggesting that Tesla owners make up these stories about how everyone else regrets their purchase and feels envy when they see the wonderful Tesla they should have bought.

By the way I noticed the panel gaps on the charred remains of his car were huge and the window trim didn't align.

You haven't remembered this dream you had last night very well.

You said you were in the next stall to a Tesla, but that wouldn't be the case of course, so in your dream I reckon you were queuing to get on the rusty Ecotricity charger in the far corner and it was actually an old bloke in a Nissan Leaf smoking a pipe you were talking to.

It's funny how dreams can be so confusing sometimes, isn't it? biggrin

No I just parked there to mock his panel gaps, that's all.

Here's a tip: You can plug a Tesla charger in to your non-Tesla car. It won't charge but you can park there for free. Just be sure to park far enough away from actual Teslas in case they catch fire.

Just in case this thread gets back on track at some point....

I’ve had the iPace for a few days now, and it’s a lovely thing. Fast, well built, precise steering, well damped ride, cracking interior. I am most reminded of my old Alpina, which is high praise.

My neighbour has had a Tesla for a year, which I’ve driven, and ridden in. I think it’s a bit quicker, handles well, great infotainment with a few odd quirks (wipers), ride not quite as good, but the supercharger network is a massive plus.

My conclusion is that you can’t make a bad choice between these two, and the two key things to figure out are which style of interior you prefer, and whether your usual travel pattern will make away from home charging an important factor.
