Which home charging point?
Discussion
As much as I despise the Ohme Home Pro poor cable management and ugly bracket to hold the cable (and the angle) I’m likely to get the charger and then use a different mount like this
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Type-2-EV-Cable-Tidy-Ho...
It’s a shame Ohme are indifferent about feedback. Pro product but no Ethernet / WiFi or customer exchangeable SIM and still no confirmation from them regarding the cost of the SIM after 3Yr
May be stuck with a dumb charger at the end of Y3
Doubt it’ll be free in 3 years. They say they hope it will be but everything is increasing, they’re unlikely to bother.
Would be a problem if it had WiFi or Ethernet!
But it’s £500 fully fitted.

I dont know what they are thinking with the Ohme bracket and the straight holster.
I swapped the plastic holster for an angled one, looks better, doesnt stick out and the lever latch is MUCH better than the one they supply with a button.
Cant get round how neatly the app just works though so I'm happy to look past the aethestics

What are the advantages/disadvantages of tethered vs untethered? Is it just convenience?
Mainly. If used by more people/public, it's usually untethered because cables get damaged, often by lying on the floor and people driving over them.
Hence so many fast charger cables are so impractically mounted.

I have narrowed down my search to the EO tethered box or Ohme.
Guess it depends on price difference. Been told I need an mains isolator fitted before install so best see if I can get that done asap
I had this requirement too - but is since been waived. But I already booked the appointment so I’ll have it done anyway along with uprated meter tails.Guess it depends on price difference. Been told I need an mains isolator fitted before install so best see if I can get that done asap
Then I’ll contact UKPN for 100A fuse - currently got an 80A

I've also had meter tails (16mm should be 25mm) and isolator switch (there is one already) raised as a prerequisite to a charger install based on photo's sent. Then I’ll contact UKPN for 100A fuse - currently got an 80A
Who waived the requirement in your case? And are the electricity supplier charging you for the uprated tails ?
I've had the Hypervolt since Nov. Nightmare with WiFi and a router all of 3 metres away - get wifi on my phone stood by it after all. Installer was abysmal - untidy, unprofessional and first install was literally lethal with supply on male pins! Ridiculous that it still cant work out how much you used based on your per unit cost. I sincerely think the car's own charger on a commando socket would have been absolutely fine. I don't use the app to check what I used as the readings are inaccurate... So make sure you need an all singing all dancing unit or can maybe manage with a commando socket and that £200 Ohme one from Octopus - make sure you have a proper earth though.

That's discouraging.I've got my eye on Hypervolt but I'm biding my time because people are falling over themselves to get the grant this side of the cut-off - often paying above the odds. I'll still be eligible after the cut-off, since I rent privately.
Have seen some horror stories about the Hypervolt stuff lately, but I like how you can reach out to them directly on FaceBook and they'll engage.
I've had a hypervolt since October and gad only 1 issue. After install the unit kept being unavailable, a quick call and discussion about not being on a strong / reliable enough WiFi I went and bought an extender in the garage.
Never had a problem since. Can lock unlock the unit from anywhere and been utterly reliable since.
A minor issue at start but not really their fault.
I would recommend them, very helpful on phone if needed and car always charged as per the programmed schedule.
Yes....the app....cannot work out the cost of electricity used despite inputing the rates which is a little perplexing as can't be that difficult .
Anyway it's not an issue as it does tell me exactly how much electricity I've used so I can work out that a 28kw charge at 7p per kW cost me £1.96not sure why the app can't work that out but hey ho a minor inconvenience

I think the issue arises because of difficulty coping with variable tariffs, and possibly input from PV panels. But it should have been easy enough to allow for single source, single tariff situations.Anyway it's not an issue as it does tell me exactly how much electricity I've used so I can work out that a 28kw charge at 7p per kW cost me £1.96not sure why the app can't work that out but hey ho a minor inconvenience

Looking at installing a charger at work, 3 phase supply - paid for by the company but car will be for private usage
Any recommendations/ advice
thanks
Plenty to choose from but, based on our experience, this https://www.projectev.co.uk/ac-charging-range/Any recommendations/ advice
thanks
It has RFID, up to 22kW, App is good and you can add a comprehensive software back office to it too for a very modest amount. ProjectEV are part of the largest solar installation company in the UK and also have other 'green' companies in the group so pretty large and with good back up.
just been let down by Rolec who very positively initially said 7-10 days by email, responded immediately to quote request and to pictures of where the install would be required then went silent.
After much chasing they've just told me they're backlogged through from December and no hope of getting anything installed before the grant ends, now means no hope of anybody else being able to do it.
Anybody got any recommendations? given I wil lnot be using rolec and wont be able to receive the grant

I'd have to disagree with the above based on personal experience with Project EV and their top end chargers.
Wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
You can get a fully optioned 22kW ABB Terra unit for around £1k. There's no need to slum it with a Chinese knock off.
Well we've installed around 100+ of them and in 5 years I've never even heard of ABB...Wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
