The Model S had optional rear facing seats in the boot, you could fit a large dog in there.
Hmm. We've just rejected every other option on the market as too small and bought another E-class estate - is it as big as that?

The numbers suggest that the rear boot of the Model S is 750 L, with the front another 150 L.
The current E-class estate is stated at 640 L.
Seats down the numbers are 1795 and 1820 in favor of the E-class, which suggest there's little in it.

Coming from the XF, the biggest change is that you don't expect the boot of the MS to be so low down. So your boot space is a lot higher (handy for fitting big items). Add to that massive underfloor storage (managed to fit a foldable baby bed and a stroller there) and I can believe the the numbers.

A big dog box might struggle depending on shape, but a "free" dog will have plenty of space to look outside, the rear window stretches pretty far.

I'd happily take out a measure if you want to know if a dog box would fit smile.

Anyway, as you say, probably still close to a decade off of being old E-class money smile.

Yes - they'll come out with a non oil based fuel that can work in older engines before then, or be partially oil based but classified as something other than petrol or diesel.

That's a very big volume - is that including underfloor space? It just looks to me as if he'd be unable to stand up in there because of the sloping rear hatch.

I got some very strange looks measuring up the boot of various estate cars with an umbrella to see if our dogs would fit smile
