I can't see an EV being a solution in this case. In a couple of years maybe.

It's the Greece bit that's kinda tricky. Wouldn't fancy doing that in any EV really (or indeed, any car at all!). The estate Taycan would be the obvious choice. Model X is fast, but not really a drivers' car. Also, the facelift one will be a while yet for the UK unfortunately.

Yes, especially in Norwegian Blue.

Not a full EV however if I were you I'd be looking at a Range Rover or RR Sport plug in hybrid, 70 miles worth of EV and only 3% more BIK (if that's a consideration).

Thanks all for the answers.

Greece trip is to Corfu - so ferry from Ancona to Igoumenitsa, and then over to Corfu. Local charging will not be an issue, so only the UK to Italy leg is a concern, and looking at the route planners seems OK.

Long retired (early), so BIK is alas not on the cards, unless I do some other fiddling around. Will look into it, but it may not be worth the while. I have had RRS before, and the hybrid side of life doesn't really appeal either.

I switched(/ing) from the RS6 to the raised height of the RSQ8 for the mile muncher due to a back injury as I find the lower cars make me ache like hell for longer journeys.

I am going to pass on the BMW for reasons stated by a few posters.....

The new Etron may appeal - will wait and see on that one as more is announced, as well as the Lotus which looks more my thing too.

The Porsche would be ideal, but may be a bit low. I think I need to give it a try.

Much appreciated all. Thanks.

My suggestion of the BMW XM was tongue in cheek.

I wouldn't write-off the iX though, which you can buy today.

At least maybe go and test drive one to see what it's all about.

There are two longer range variants, the iX 50 and the iX M60, the later is never going to leave you feeling under-powered, it will do the dash in 3.6 seconds I believe.

As for the looks, the M Sport body, to my eyes, is fresh and interesting, having seen quite a few in the flesh now.

If anything they make the smiley-faced Mercs and Audis look a bit staid and, well, boring.

BMW have a habit of designing cars that some people aren't quite ready for, yet a year or so down the track, they look entirely normal, and I predict the iX will do the same.

The XM is however obviously pushing that idea to the absolute extreme...

You will definitely sit low in the Taycan. I think the lowest seating position of any mainstream EV which is obviously by design. Which I personally like. Normally in an EV you very much sit on top of the battery. I guess with the Cross Turismo would you sit a bit higher.

Probably worth checking out a few models and see what’s what.

New EV Macan is due next year also if not already mentioned. Not as big as the Q8/etron but should be a lot easier for ingress/egress than the Taycan.
