Hey Everyone,
Planning on upgrading to EV and have narrowed it down to two cars, the XC40 (Single Motor) and the Enyaq IV60.
I was delighted to find this thread as it is the exact two cars I am looking at
Just wondering if anyone had made the decision either way and their thoughts on it?
Anything you wish you knew before making the decision which you now know in hindsight.
I test drove but the twin motor XC40 and the IV80 so it's hard to fully judge.
My main concern with the XC40 is it looks very similar to my current 3008 (Both in White) and it's actually just as old as it was released in 2018 but now has been updated as an EV. I'm worried that there is a high chance a new version will be released once they move the other models up to EV.
Also, the boot is slightly smaller than the 3008 and the floor hump in the back is bigger.
The Plus trim id would be going with does have ACC or Blindspot but I do love the Google maps integration.
WIth the IV60, my main concern is the length of time for the order and my wife said it looks more like a minivan than an SUV
She is in love with the XC40.
For the same price as the XC40 Plus trim I can spec out the IV60 to a fairly high level and have a lot I wouldn't have on the XC40.
Any opinions or advice is very much appreciated.
I want to make the right choice because its a lot of money
I'm sure this won't be much help, but FWIW, we're absolutely loving the XC40 - especially Mrs Diderot. Did another 200 mile round trip last weekend - South Coast to Oxford. I wasn't hanging about, and we got back with 24% left. The car eats up the miles, is very very comfortable (ride, noise suppression, and the seats are fab). The Mrs loves that it's more compact than our old X3 35d, and it's a doddle to drive. Google Automotive is very impressive too, especially the maps. I've only seen one Enyiac before close up and it looks huge and not SUV-like, so I think I know where your wife is coming from.
I told you I'd be little or no help!

Thanks for the reply Diderot, Its always great to get some feedback, especially from someone who has made the jump. I've only seen one Enyiac before close up and it looks huge and not SUV-like, so I think I know where your wife is coming from.

I think the XC40 is more popular with the ladies (not being sexist here ) because of its compact SUV style. We had it on test for 24 hours where we made one longer trip in it and it was super comfy, very easy to get used to. I think my wife is eyeing up being able to drive it herself
I think if it was a newly released body shape or came with the same type of specs as the Enyaq can for the price or if it was a few grand cheaper it would be a much easier decision.
I am slightly leaning more towards the Enyaq due to the functionality and styling (especially inside) which can be got for the price.
The XC40 drive was very comfortable though and after getting used to one pedal drive it was something I got to like a lot (unfortunately the Enyaq does not have full one pedal drive at this time)
I'm not sure if I'm heavily influenced by the fact in moving from a 3008 and it's so similar in exterior style to the XC40 but closer to interior style to the Enyaq.
My head has been spinning all weekend trying to make this final decision

Sorry, I'm really not helping am I?

Surprise, surprise - my XC40 is delayed yet again, but only a little bit this time so that makes it OK. Was supposed to be 7/11 to 17/11. It's now 19/11/21 to 23/11/21. Dealer is saying the car is actually in build now which means he can be more accurate with a delivery date, and once the car arrives with him they'll need 48 hours to prep it and fit the towbar. So hopefully it will arrive before the end of the month.
Same here, ordered it Sept and mine too keeps getting put back. Last report from the dealer says Dec but I'm expecting another delay. It's ironic how difficult it is to 'go electric.'

I am not sure if I will ever get over that instant torque when I put my foot down.
It's a lot of fun isn't it?Absolutely hammers the range though - most people are getting mid-late 30 kwh/100 miles
