Bob Flavin covers ID 3 cost and financing in Ireland.
Summary is:
€40k for the base, and the example the gave was a 10% deposit, 36 x €409 and then 50 % final value to get out at the end.
Not sure how that will translate to U.K. they gave an example next to “equivalent” Golf 1.0TSI and it comes out cheaper overall in a total cost of ownership sense.
I havnt viewed yet as youtube is not responding but those numbers don’t add up unless there’s a govt rebate. 4K down, 20k residual and 36 x 409 is 38kBob Flavin covers ID 3 cost and financing in Ireland.

Edited-watched. It’s bloody expensive. 40k is net of 2 x 5k incentives. So it’s 50k for the base, 55k mid spec and 60k for the top spec.
That looks like £35k entry in the uk and 45k for the top spec. No thanks

Looks like the ID3 is delayed another 6 months due to software issues ..
Meanwhile, the Golf 8 has a 5 star ncap rating, somehow despite the rear door opening on side impact. https://www.motor1.com/news/388602/2020-vw-golf-cr...Burwood said:

Another 6 months beyond June 2020? They planned for June 8 months ago. Are you suggesting dec 2020? Article said:
"Volkswagen struggles with massive software problems with its new electric model ID.3. According to information from the manager magazine, the ID.3 will be built for months with incomplete software architecture.
The company said that the cars would initially be parked in specially rented parking spaces. In spring, service teams should move out with mobile computer stations, connect them to the cars, and thus deploy a new software architecture to the first 10,000 ID.3. The second wave is scheduled to start in mid-May.
In total, more than 20,000 ID.3 would be reworked. Only then should the software be able to be installed "over the air", as has long been the norm for mobile phones and also for the American automaker Tesla's.
The ID.3 is the first VW model to be based on the Group's new electrical platform. Production of the car had started in Zwickau in early November. However, the first models will not be delivered to customers until next summer.
Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess also wants to sell the new software architecture to other manufacturers. The program is a kind of operating system for cars. For the Car Software Org unit created for this purpose, the group is looking for information from the manager magazine external partners. Discussions with the supplier Continental are currently underway, according to Wolfsburg."

VW official response....“As this is a completely new model with an entirely new production process and totally new procedures, including the delivery chain, the top priority is to safeguard our high-quality standards. This is why the first vehicles produced will be handed over to Volkswagen employees as part of a quality assurance program for testing under everyday conditions. Our employees will provide us with key feedback"
And the 'Article' states that computer modules will be removed to facilitate this system update. Strange when everything is over the air. The article is bullst.

So they’re not going to let customers have the cars because they aren’t right? That’s a disgrace.
Or they may just rather customers buy a 'clean diesel'. Didn't you know the latest VAG diesel are 80% cleaner, it must be true because all the motoring press is reporting it .Edited by gangzoom on Friday 20th December 09:54
