old tech, its going to look very different soonhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9no7Q4jYnsI
I find it more interesting that it takes till almost twice the national speed limit for the RS6 to get ahead personally.
Had a bit of fun with a new RS6 just the other day in our M3P and at real world speeds it really didn't stand a chance despite looking and sounding epic in comparison. Car wow came to the same conclusion.

Does anyone else see an issue with the design of steering wheel on the Tesla? Very Knight Rider.
Bet that takes some getting used to, especially with big fast changes of direction.
The 'yoke' in the Plaid I assume you mean?Bet that takes some getting used to, especially with big fast changes of direction.
100%. Should be fine for high speed stuff but around town and parking going to be horrendous to use I expect. Not so much of an issue in the US with so much more room on roads and in car parks but in the UK?

IME, in the real world, an EV is always faster because few ICE owners sit at the lights, foot on brake, in race mode, having already engaged and prepared their launch mode, engine bouncing off the limiter and gearbox straining to get ready to dump its clutches!Had a bit of fun with a new RS6 just the other day in our M3P and at real world speeds it really didn't stand a chance despite looking and sounding epic in comparison. with an EV, the difference between a 0-60 in 15 seconds and a 0-60 in sub 5 is simply how far and fast you drop your right foot, and in the middle of a 15 second run, you can immediately and instantly turn it into a full bore run by just flooring it at any moment.
It therefore takes a MUCH faster car to get away in any meaningful way. My little i3 is a long way from a truely fast car these days, but i don't think anything has ever got away from it once rolling (certiantly not on any road with bends or turns) precisely because it's instant and requires no pre-amble to just got to max perf......

Ah yes the EV party trick - it goes fast in a straight line!
RS6 any day for me, who cares if it's slightly slower to 60, it's still fking fast and is a darn sight more interesting to drive.
So you are suggesting that going fast in a straight line isn't the RS6's party trick? Have you driven both?RS6 any day for me, who cares if it's slightly slower to 60, it's still fking fast and is a darn sight more interesting to drive.

In fact I'd go so far as saying it could be dangerous.
When I was taught to drive, I was taught to 'feed' the wheel and keep the 10 and 2 position. Is this not the case anymore?
I'm sure it is.
Jokers!
I’d like to see it take on a proper RS6.
You know with a twin turbo V10 with 760 bhp.
The Audi, with 760 bhp no less, has twin turbo petrol power that no milkfloat could possibly beat.
Why is this post even allowed on here, this is Pistonheads and unless you worship at the altar of twin turbo V10s you shouldn’t even be on here.
An RS6 with a V10 ( and 760 bhp!) is what God drives.
Am I doing this right?

Haha yes you are. I used to have a V10 RS6 with only 730hp, and then an RS7 with only 750hp, now a Tesla Model S. In my opinion the Tesla is much faster day to day and handles way way better and is more practical as a family car when I need it to be too. I'm a petrol head in terms of performance and the BEV gives me better performance in an every day car.I’d like to see it take on a proper RS6.

You missed about about waiting for hydrogen which we all know is around the corner, the national grid melting down, and the need to tow a caravan in sub zero temperature across Europe.Do you have "synthetic fuel" on your bingo card, seems to come up a bit recently?
Bearing in mind we've owned evs for 4 years now, so i'm no stranger to the instant power. But even i got caught out yesterday by a bloody nissan leaf while i was in my Z4 (306bhp!).
I had a wrong lane idiot in front of me on a roundabout which caused me to brake, the nissan who was behind me shot into the inside lane of the two lane exit of the roundabout which led onto a NSL carriageway.
'Cheeky fker, i'll show him' i thought.. mashed the throttle and to my surprise the bloody leaf was still by the side of me.
took me up to the speed limit to start making a difference
imagine if that'd been a M3P.. or even the LR ... i would have been eaten alive.
EV is the future!
