Ordered i3 on the 8th of Jan with £960 media pack to get the pro nav.

Had a call on Friday from the iguy at dealers saying the media pack may be free but not sure! Anyway was busy with work so I said great and got on with business.

Just had a casual look at the i3 builder on the BM site and there is a new option pack 'Pro nav upgrade with RTTI'! The cost? £0. The media pack is still there for £960, only difference being the connected plus concierge service is included ( which I would never use). The website lets you build a car with both packages by the way.

So have just sent this email to dealer.

"John after your call re: no nav package being free I had a look on the website and they have added a new package, to the options! This is the free upgrade to pro nav. With RTTI for £0! The media pack is still there and is the same as free pro nav but also include the connected plus consierge service which I don't care about especially as it makes that pack £900+!

It's all very strange and a bit annoying.

So based on the options list changes that bmw have made I'd go for the free pro nav upgrade only and replace the media pack with Harman cardon option. You can give me a call if you wish."

Anyone else experienced this? And I'm not being unreasonable am I?

Well the dealer called and said the system is letting him put the pro nav option on for £0, but he can't get any info from bmw today (Sunday).

As he wants to double check with bmw before processing, he is going to wait until Monday and let me know what they say before he does anything.

I'll keep you posted on developments.

My dealer still has no further info back from BMW, however I did spot this over on http://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&amp...

The topic was mainly about LED headlights, seems LED are standard and not halogen, anyway here is the info posted last Thursday 16 Jan.

"Here is the statement from BMW i :

I have been in contact with our Customer Projects Manager regarding your questions about the LED headlights and the Professional Navigation Upgrade.

I have had clarification that the BMW i3 does come as standard with LED headlights, the optional equipment of Adaptive LED headlights is different because of the adaptive technology. Below is an excerpt from the dealer handbook about the LED lights,

States - 5A2 Adaptive LED headlights (£710 extra) - featuring daytime driving lights with LED ‘U’ shaped BMW i design. Adaptive headlights improve visibility by following the steering angle of the front wheels, giving better illumination of the road ahead through corners……… Replaces 5AK

"5AK - LED light elements (Standard). Parking lights, daytime driving lights in LED technology (14 high-powered LEDs) with LED ‘U’ shaped BMW design. Not with 5A2, LED headlights with LED light elements"

With regards to the Professional Navigation Upgrade with RTTI, this was a limited offer when purchasing the BMW i3 and completing the order before January 10th, 2014. This offer was reliant on the order being fully specified and sent to build before January 10th. Unfortunately, it should have been removed from the website once this offer had ended, and I can only apologise for this error. We have since removed it from the website and it should no longer be available as a free option, effective immediately."

I'm getting there too. Got to admit it's been quite a confusing process compared to other cars. Lack of clarity on options being the main one, and now these 'free option' anomalies and slow answers from BMW are just adding to the confusion.

Oh, and the free pro nav option is still up on the UK i3 builder website today!

I think the heat pump is essential for this country, however I only discovered this reading forums. The UK brochure seriously under/missells it. Pre heating is possible with or without, but the main advantage of the heat pump, namely reducing energy usage when on the move and heating cabin, is not touched on. It make it sound like the energy savings are only gained from preheating the cabin.

The german brochure goes into much more detail and would have made it a no brainer option for me.

See comment from here http://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&amp...

"I think the misunderstanding comes from the the description. I think this only refers to the fact that doing it while on charge, you will start it warm, and save energy. But it is misleading, and this is a better description:

Google translated:

As the air conditioning in summer uses innovative heat pump system in addition also in winter, the energy of the ambient air. Compared with a conventional heating up to 50% higher energy efficiency is achieved at constant heating comfort. Range increases of over 30% are possible. The selected interior temperature is regulated automatically between the electric heater and the heat pump system.

So even if the UK description i not wrong, it has nothing to do about the heat-pump itself, and only describes one possible use, but is very misleading. The heat-pump just makes sure that you use less energy to heat, like any other heat-pump."

The UK description in the brochure and website is rubbish!

Well dealer finally got an answer about free or discounted pro-nav. Free option was not there but it was showing as a £200 option for my order.

Due to this I wanted to add the Harman Kardon option, he then warned that it may drop the discount, 'risk it for a biscuit.' I thought.

My 8th Jan order (with Harman Kardon) is getting the pro-nav option for ... £200.

Quite pleased smile

So car is now;

i3 BEV
ZNP Media pack - Pro-Nav
ZWT Winterpack
420 Tinted rear glass
4T9 Heat Pump
4U7 DC Charging
674 Harman Kardon
2G6 429 alloy wheels
