Has anybody had their licence back from Le Plod yet? They said about 2-3 weeks but it's been over a month now and I still haven't received it.

I'd be more subtle than that I doubt Le Plod would appreciate it if they caught you again next year and you appear to have been bragging about having been caught the year before, being caught each year is one thing advertising the fact is another,

So a €750 style logo may be better if it doesn't show speed or is too obvious.

Caught after the toll by a gun?

Anybody been done at the toll booth having done an average speed above the limit between tolls?

Caught by gun before the toll and tugged at the gates I believe.

Coming home yesterday evening, heading for Le Havre via the A28, as I passed through the toll at the Rouen end the Gendarmes had pulled 5 or 6 cars on the far side of the toll. With 3 or 4 sitting in a couple of cars looking like they were waiting for more.

Now I drove sensibly and was really looking out for them hiding on the A28. Looking back down side roads, behind obvious bushes/hidey holes and apart from the 2 speed cameras before a couple of bridges saw none. Gawd knows where they must have been hiding. Sneaky buggers

Their cars, worth more than £100,000 each, will be sold.
haha - thoroughly enjoyed that read smile

I was once caught up with a road rally while en route to the Ring - got stopped as the plod were pulling over anything remotely sporty looking (especially with uk plates). They quickly established I wasnt part of the rally and politely sent me on my way while doing all they could to harass and make life difficult for those who were judge

No I still haven't had my licence back yet and was also told 2/3 weeks... Not sure what to do, I may simply phone the DVLA and say I have lost my old one and forget about Le Plod... My Bro hasn't had his back either... Let me know if you get it back though.

took a couple of months for mine to come through last year. The Alencon courts are fairly busy this time of year!

Purely out of interest, but what would one expect for 270kph? When I got a little held up, I reckon I'd have needed to do that kind of speed to catch up with my buddies.

SM
If you watch one of the threads, there is currently someone who appears in court - again - at Alençon on 18/3 this year. He was stopped at 254kph retained (they deduct 5% so 267kph real speed). This was in september, and he hasn't seen his car since, and if the police and court have their way he'll never see it again either. They are fighting to confiscate it, after which it will be sold for state funds.

No, this isn't an urban myth, there are plenty of precedents, including the cannonball a few years back when two cars were seized 40kms into France, seized and sold. In this case it involves a new Ferrari California so a potential risk of losing north of £150,000. Oh, and that wasn't during the race period, but in September.

I know it is macho and "fun" to hoon over here in France, but let me warn you that the police here at Le Mans are now really geared up. Last weekend 15 licences taken away on the spot and 450 fines for speeding. Since Xmas that makes over 3,000 speeding fines and over 50 licences taken away in weekend crackdowns, plus a number of cars seized for excessive speed. Now that is mid-winter and out of season. They know you are coming in June and which roads you take and it is absolutely the worst time to risk it here. Someone mentioned setting the cruise control at 90mph - you won't lose time and 750 euros buys a lot of beer.

If I sound like an old grouch take it that way if you choose, but living here and knowing a lot of BiB it isn't them - they love cars in the main - but orders from on high to really crack down.

Oh, and I note someone is still regurgitating the old urban myth of being timed between tolls. It has never happened because how can they know you won't get off at an exit before the next toll, and anyway, the time isn't stamped on your ticket. All they do is set up a radar trap a few kms from the toll plaza and radio your number ahead.

Saw exactly this back in August - as I was getting near to the peage at Boulogne the cars coming the other way were flashing their headlights (though I suspect they weren't prosecuted for that... wink ) and the northbound traffic slowed to well below the 130kph speed limit, despite it being dry.

Seeing as there was no reason to go that slowly I proceeded at bang on the speed limit and saw the little tripod sitting on the hard shoulder near a junction. As I passed I was flashed (by the camera I hasten to add...) but I expect this was just to check, seeing as I was moving more quickly than the traffic in lane 1. Sure enough, at the toll booths a couple of Km down the road there were about three or four gendarme-mobiles.

I did wonder, as I wafted non-stop through the 'Reservé' lane how they pulled over cars they had clocked speeding - do they approach you at the toll booths or just pull out and nab you as you exit them ? More out of curiosity than anything.
