Tips for getting home on Sunday
Discussion
I think in 2008 I left on a Sunday - it pissed with rain all the way down and on the way back. As the rain had set in for the finish I decided to leave before the end. It was the right choice as delays were already backing up at the tunnel when I arrived. Later heard that queues to the tolls were so bad due to the weather that many would miss their crossings.
I have seen the race end, and then left from Expo on several occasions with no problems. First year I tried it I got stuck at the toll booths where the A28 meets the A13 ut that doesnt seem to have been a problem for the last couple of years. This year camping in Epinettes though so might need to rethink!

You can camp Sunday evening, BUT the marshals and Security staff will be very sparse, many go home after the race, the local Traveler like people swarm onto the sites and any tents gazebos chairs BBcues not nailed down will be instantly swiped to be sold on at Boot sales across the country. Its amazing how fast the circuit empties out after the race.
Anyone know if the Pistonheads site run by 1st Tickets is still secure on Sunday night or do the security pack up and disappear? First year for me and camping with them 49neil said:

You could either:
park up at Arnage, take the bus to the main tribunes and then walk the track back to Arnage which takes 15 minutes
Either way you'll beat the traffic
that's best park of 6km, so slightly more than 15m!park up at Arnage, take the bus to the main tribunes and then walk the track back to Arnage which takes 15 minutes
Either way you'll beat the traffic
We stay until around 7pm.... eat a meal and wash up in the camper ....then head up to just north of Rouen and park up for the night.... then it's 2 and half hours to Dunkirk having missed the mass run to the Rouen Peage... Been there done that... I guess if you are camping... so long as you have a late/overnight ferry... and need to cross Sunday night, you should be okay... usually fine once on the A28...
