2016 Weather at LMS
Discussion
As anyone who reads this thread will have noticed, the weather here is awful at the moment. The fire is alight, it's 13C, and still raining. We had a month's rain in three hours over the weekend and much flooding. But that might change for the better and we can only hope so. Indeed. it is looking like test day will be fine for a change. What worries me though is the state of some of the camping like Beauséjour, which is all clay. That must be a quagmire at the moment, and since the ACO only cut the week of the race the grass is probably about a yard high, wet through, and will be difficult to cut properly if it is still wet. Yet the golf course, which looked like a lake on Saturday evening, was completely dry and playable on Monday. You wouldn't have believed it had even rained. So Blue and Maison Blanche, as well as Houx (but not the Annexe) are fine based on the fact that they too are sandy soil.
Porsche Curves campsite was mildly moist for much of last year's stay, following the torrential downpour on Thursday evening - I think the reconstruction of the viewing bank used quite a lot of clay, so it stayed a bit soggy underfoot. Thankfully, the tracks are made of decent gravel, so us glampers won't get bogged down
EDIT - last weeks forecast included "abundant sunshine", but now we're heading for thunderstorms on the Friday
