In our experience you get what you pay for with gazebos. Just be sure to get some heavy duty pegs to anchor the thing down. I recall one year having to have a man on each corner to stop it flying away in the wind.
Thats my thinking too, although the pop-up ones always seem weaker than those that arent popup. Thanks everyone for all the thoughts, pondering if I have space for a Gala tent!Chrisgr31 said:

Pop-up ones tend to be made of flat pieces of metal, not the tubular steel of the normal versions. This means they lack torsional rigidity and are more susceptible to twisting and collapsing in bad weather.Chrisgr31 said:

We also get water carriers and can fill those and tie down internally as well if really needed.

Its the poles that are the problem. We're having a ball ache trying to work out who's going to take them as they only just fit in my i3. The diagonal roof poles are a bit longer than 2m. Probably 2.2. I think one of the group is now taking his 1 series with a roof rack. I used to have an Xtrail which is about as exciting to drive as a pedalo, but managed to get all sorts of stuff in, on and around and if that wasn't enough could tow another 2.4 tonnes The canvas sections are easy. Don't be tempted to get a box like I did for a while. Just get a tarp down the back of the seats and used them to wedge gas bottles, pots and pans down there so there's no clanging about. The tarp also makes a nice canopy if you google it
