you tart. The 5 hour drive through France is what makes Le Mans. Call yourself a petrolhead. Thats another thing to add to your lentalist mannerisms that are, frankly, starting to worry me.

We still actually drive to Le Mans mate, the drive is shorter and has no old bill ruining it.....

And, I plan going in the Monaro I may be purchasing, which is hardly lentilist.

You just dont want to admit that you are being like Bennno and trying to get the cheapest ferry. Next thing you'll be buying a Lamborghini which was previously owned by The Sultana of Brunei....

We only saw a couple of coppers and a smashed up speed camera in the usual route this year. Besides, by June you'll be cycling to le mans to save the planet from those nasty petrol fumes, so speeding wont be an issue. Tell you what, you can train for it by using Bennno's "as new" exercise bike.

And just because you are thinking of a Vauxhall as your exotic car, you dont need to get all pikey about the ferry choice as well.

going all serious for a minute but I think you choose well doing the early boat. By the end of the day the boat was so behind that it was chaos at the port. I just cant be arsed driving all the way to dover to wait in a ridiculous queue, park my car in the most squeezed in manner I have ever seen (even for a ferry) and then bite my nails as to whether the thing makes it across the channel. Last year 1 engine was working and I think that was powered by a pifco fan.

after the horrendous service last year I shall not be travelling on that throwback from D-day again, whether its £50 or £5.

Dont know what the problem was....we had a ticket for 2 people in a Griff...

roll up with 4 people in a ford ranger, stacked with all sorts of crap(hammer, cillit bang, rohypnol) and we still got on......

there again it was Mel who handed over the tickets....

I havent known Mel turned back before for anything. Even when Italian customs thought he was Peter Sutcliffe they let him board the plane. Most border controls are pleased to see him leave I expect. "mammamia, he a maybeaa a serial killaaa but he a isnt my problemaa no longaa"

I'm surprised he paid for the ticket at all to be honest. I bet you a fiver that he claimed the VAT back....

Water pistols will be used.

Anyway, the whole speed ferries thing was a pain anyway. It meant a long drive to Dover, a long drive to Le Mans and the same on the way back.

Next year we will be doing what we did 3 years ago which was Portsmouth - St Malo overnight on the weds and back to Dinan on the Sunday night for a swim, luxury room and gourmet food on the banks of the river washed down with plenty of good wine. Short 20 min drive back to ferry on the monday. Superb.

Plus its all already booked up, just camping pitches in houx to go and we are sorted!

Le Mans is living the rest of the year is just waiting....
