That is commitmentsmile Taking the 1st Tickets glamping option so only about 10% of you list is needed. I feel your stress just reading your list & reminded myself why i chose to camp in one of 1st tickets tents for my 1st visit to Le Mans.

Think it's just sleeping bag, pillow, clothes & toiletries we need. No plans to cook as opted for catered package & will stock up on beer/wine/spirits on the Hull-Zeebrugge ferry.

I need to remember the legal extras though like hi-vis, bulbs & breathalysers etc.

^ W8PMC. ....remember a towel as one of our group on our first visit remembered his bedding but not a towel & was off to the local hypermarket before ablutions could begin after his first night & then walked back to the tent wrapped in his towel topless - he was involved in a good bit of banter wink

It's a good list, but don't forget that France requires a hi-viz jacket for driver & each passenger, breathalysers (x2), spare bulb kit, warning triangle, headlight adjusters and a GB sticker

Here's a link to the AAs list of of compulsory equipment:

Don't worry about breathalysers - that was scrapped by the French last year

Re: Hi Viz jackets, don't forget they have to be in the passenger compartment i.e. The glove box, seat pocket etc.. NOT in the boot under a load of other stuff

I did biggrin

Incredible value, and saves a lot of aggro if it's bucketing down on arrival.

Just regarding the compulsory....

Hi vis x2 are in the seat back pockets as usual.

Number plate shows GB.

Im not planning on driving in darkness so haven't got light adjusters.

I understand breathalyser are compulsory but fine is nil IF you're caught without them.

According to Superhoop above, they are no longer required.

eta: having a read of The AA guide they are compulsory but there is no penalty for not complying confusednuts

Just what I said then!

Can't seem to find an official government website but this seems fairly recent. http://about-france.com/travel.htm

As above, you pay about £140 for the benefit of using a pre erected tent, furnished with air beds, chairs, table & lamps etc. so only bedding requiredsmile Had to pay a compulsory £100 refundable security deposit too. Did this as the hassle of packing everything required to camp was too much & i wanted this being my 1st le Mans to purely focus on the driving/drinking (not often those can be used in the same sentence).

Great point, had totally forgotten about a towel. You also mention ablutions so is a few rolls of Andrex finest also required or is that provided?

Pretty sure the Breathalyser law has not been scrapped, however the French have postponed a decision as to what punishment to bestow on anyone caught without them so it's kind of a catch 22. Still illegal not to have them but no financial or custodial punishment for getting caught without. I'm taking a pair as really don't want to give them any excuse to question me & at £5 for a pair it's a no brainer. Got hi-vis on order as well as a spare bulb kit so all setsmile

last yr I seem to remember top quality 'bog roll' was included & even air freshener (to keep the few ladies happy who shared the facilities with us). ...a spare roll is always useful in case of emergencies & supplies run out. Also a pair of flip flops or Crocs as the shower cubicles are tight for space & you don't want your best driving shoes getting damp! wink

Another great point. Flip flops on the listsmile

I keep hearing mention of Le Mans Radio. How do you go about getting this? I've an iPhone 5S with 1 Radio App (TuneIn Radio) so is it simply a case of tuning this into a specific frequency at Le Mans & hey presto? Do iPhone Radio Apps work abroad?
