...did/do you detour round Rouen?
Discussion
Do you think it is worth a detour around, or did you get through easily enough?
Friday evening for me I'm afraid.
I was thinking of staying on the A29 (Le Havre road) until Yvetot, then diving down the D131/D490/D131/D913/D313, crossing the Seine at Pont de Brotonne (which looks nice and fast) and rejoining the A28 at Bourg-Achard....
Madness?

We did the detour on the way down to the 24 this year, lovely fast route through the forest. Went through Rouen on the way home on the Sunday following the sat nav (doesn't follow the stupid detour signs), no problems at all and probably saved us at least an hour over the detour route and we got to play in the Rouen tunnel

That is the route we took down, which was the correct thing to do, on the way back, my Dad made the mistake of mixing sat nav directions and signpost directions, meaning we had to drive through the centre of Rouen twice.Friday evening for me I'm afraid.

You saved you an hour by going through Rouen rather than Yvetot- really? The difference between the Rouen route and the Yvetot route is only about 15 km according to google maps and like you say is a fast (ish) road. Google also predicts that Rouen route is ten minutes faster without traffic (or getting lost). Conditions at this very moment however predict a journey through Rouen that is 15 minutes slower. Traffic and temporarily on the wrong road have been regular occurrences for many with Rouen, so with the bridge still closed in Rouen and more fun to be found at Le Mans than the Rouen tunnel I stick with my recommendation of going through Yvetot.

We made our own detour
A29, A151 and A150.
No queues. A lot of traffic (we were towing a caravan) that had overtaken us much earlier then overtook again, so my route was defiantly quicker. Don't know which route they used of course!

On the way back from the 24 last month we risked it.
The authorities seem to have cottoned on that roads grind to a halt with us all stumbling through & there was a well signed diversion from just outside town which re joined the Calais road a few miles further up. Look for the neon signs saying alt route to Calais.

On the way back from the 24H on Monday I had to stop off in the suburbs of Rouen to do this...
(the grave at the end of the row is one of the lads on the war memorial at work)
...and then headed over the river on the most convenient bridge and found it pretty easy to follow the North Bank of the Seine to pick up the N28 that leads to the autoroute to Abbeville. Whether it was because it was lunchtime or not we didn't hit any traffic of note despite one lane of the N28 being coned off whilst some verge work was being done.
