OK. Ok. We know what beastie's you're taking down there but when are you all leaving ? I'm on the 05:15 SeaFrance out of Dover on Thurs 12th. How about you ? I'll be travelling down the "old road" route rather than the new motorway as it's more fun. So if you see a little blue Pug 306 laden with 2 weeks worth of camping kit (staying down for a holiday) give us a wave ! And if you see a short arse pointing a camera your way (shorts and floppy hat, not looking anything like a cop !) give us a flash, you might make it onto my website !

Can't wait !!

As best as I can make out (from RAC website route planner)the motorway goes from Calais to Rouen, about half the way. Then it'a A roads which are easily as quick as the M-way, but watch out for cops with speed traps. They are building a section from Alencon to Le Mans but if any of it is useable yet I've no idea. Perhaps if anyone's going down for pre-qualifying they will update us. But in my opinion Johnny boy you really shouldn't even be thinking of going down on the motorway ! The "A" roads are bloody fast and great fun even for me in the Pug.

Sounds to me like Sparkey and Mrs T have got the right idea ! And as for those Marcoses I think we'll hear you guys leaving the chunnel. Hope to see you all down there.

Interestingly the routeplanner reckons the via Paris route is only 20 mins quicker than the Rouen route. Assuming that your good boys and stick to the speed limit of course............

Had a look in a 2003 edition France road map today in WHSmiths (like you do !) and it now has motorway/dual carriageway marked down from Alencon through to Le Mans itself. So for those of you going for outright speed down there you're only without those multi lanes between Rouen and Alencon. I'm still gonna stick to the scenic route ! You can shove your crappy motorway snack stops !!!

Well the ferry's awaiting, the camping tickets have arrived (at last), cameras cleaned and the films on order. I'm ready. How about you ? Hell I might even clean the car and check the tent over before I go !

Last post on this thread I guess, but at long last I've got some piccys up on my site ( www.adesmith.ukonline.co.uk/lemans2003.html ) Plenty of you TVR drivers blasting around on Friday and more to come. The pics are pretty small files so if you want a "real" copy just e-mail me.
