Have the unenviable task , of taking the au pair with family to Switzerland , then on to Bavaria ,

Was thinking if money was no object what 5 seater would you take and why , must be comfortable and have good range .... ideally not a diesel

The au pair drives the 2 children and luggage in the Purosangue and you and OH drive your new GMA.

Stopping off in Bruges Christmas market , hoon along autobahn , then delivering Christmas presents so flying not an option , last time took the DBS but kids are too big and only a 4 seater

no way au pair would fit in the boot ...............

LWB Range Rover or Bentayga

Slightly less expensive but more spacious/much better luggage space: 130 Defender. Not driven one yet, but understand they ride well on air.

You need more than 5 seats, or at least 5 proper seats not a rear bench.

I wouldn’t rule out a diesel and would be looking at an A6, 5 Series or E Class. All spacious, quiet comfortable cruisers.

BMW M5 made for that sort of work, surely…
Current model Bentayga or Aston DBX

Family would probably prefer travelling in an S Class

as to be a Range Rover surely if comfort is a priority?

If you want to avoid an SUV then S class or 7 series

Towbar and caravan.

Au pair and kids in caravan, plus you do not need a hotel stop.

Would be an S Class for me but that's purely from my own experience of owning one and it's ability to be consistently comfortable and relaxing. Big boot on them too.

Admittedly for overall practicality the most useful family car I've experienced was the VW Sharan/Seat Alhambra hire cars we've had. 5 proper seats an a huge boot or 7 seats with a small boot. Comfortable enough for covering 1,200 in a week in Devon at least haha.

Best vehicle I ever had for 5 people on a long journey was a Land Cruiser 80 series Amazon, 3 rows of seats, rear row for the smallest person and all the luggage, 2 in the middle row, 2 in front.

They are available with 4.5 straight 6.

Getting a bit old now though.

Once saw a family leaving the St Enedoc (sp?) in Rock. Mother & kids first in a Range Rover, followed by dad in an F12. Which was nice…

Lexus LM. Get the 6 seat option. 4 people travel in proper chairs. Fold down one of the 3rd row seats so there is decent luggage space. 1 person can sit in the remaining rear most seat.

Prob can stick the wife back there, 2 kids in the middle row and Au Pair upfront with you? biggrin
