I don’t have the energy! But clearly there needs to be more action you can take with these sort of people.
Maybe some of us can meet up in groups of 3 and try the oil in the coolant trick! biggrin

Yup, good warning though of these sort of scumbags MO.
I'm sure they've extracted cash enough times to make it worthwhile.

I'm sure its too much hassle and theyll do nothing, but I'd be informing the police.

If nothing else it’s a fraudulent description for the next owner which is a real shame.

Hi all, I've submitted a Police report on the basis of his behaviour and attempted alleged extortion or misrepresentation.

I genuinely appreciate all the help and support here, but I would also that everyone refrains from contacting the seller or marketplace further on this subject just 'in case' as I am also a believer in karma in the end.

I think it has been important to give the vehicle details as it is being misrepresented in the sale at present in the hope that a future 'buyer beware' or owner is aware.

He's utter scum.

The police won't do anything, sadly. HMRC might like to know what he paid you for the car, what he's doing and how much he's asking...

What a complete and utter cocksocket.

To all those questioning why the buyer would bother - here it is.

Buys at £4200, tries to get a further £1000 back, selling at over 6 grand with dodgy info in the ad.

Potential profit - nearly 3 grand, if the OP had caved on him.

Scumbag........complete and utter scumbag.

Who listed it at £6,990 in July this year on 132,000 miles? Big drop in price.

Most definitely this.

His advert 'welcomes' a px - tells you all you need to know about whether he's trading on the sly.

Me! I dropped the price a few times because there was no interest, I paid £8,000 for it April 2022 on 108,000.

Worst thing you can do is keep dropping the price. I bet he based this on his reasoning for doing stty tactics. You're heading for taking half your asking price.

I know, but new car had arrived, parking is limited here, still paying insurance etc and ULEZ zone expansion with a service incoming plus I'd lost at the time the service book.

I was happy to let it go to a genuine buyer, badly burnt on this but when you just want it moved on because its surplus to requirements.

Dealing with people like that is like the old saying about playing chess against a pigeon - it doesn’t matter what you do, they’ll knock all the pieces over, crap on the board and then fly off.

This is the problem with selling a car, too many people trying to buy cars cheap and sell on for a profit. A lot of these people have zero morals, and as we have seen try and intimidate the owner to believe there is something wrong with the car they have just sold and to give them some money to make them go away.

This is why you get so many "Best offer boss", "Best Price" and offer of half the asking price "in hand cash today" when selling a car. They want to persuade you to virtually give the car away which they then sell on for a profit.

Just had a look at his photos on Facebook, what an absolute throbber.
