Good spec but top, top £££
I'm totally lost on pricing in this new world, what would you think this is worth?
My own view is ~10% less £19.5-20k

Agree on the forced sales - our LCI M135i insurance went from £350 a few years ago to ~£800 this year - we're mid 30's, 10 years NCB, no points or fault claims etc so hate to think what it is for younger people
£20k is what I was thinking, I guess there's no harm in throwing in an offer. I think its also on run flats so I'd want to factor in changing those.

I've just done a quote myself, very similar to you 32, 10 years no claims, £750 definitely higher than i was expecting.

I moved on from mine sooner than I'd planned to as the insurance was ramping up every year.

The last year I had it I paid 1700 for the year, 21y/o with full NCB.
I'm 25 now and my M5 is 800, ran an M140i quote the other day and 1450 was the cheapest!

That does look priced high, I'd say a 20k car. I bought mine for 21k back in 2019 and it was 2 years old, 20k miles and similar spec - EDC, Auto, Pro Nav, HK etc and that was Approved Used.

Appreciate used prices aren't what they used to be but 4 years and basically 0 depreciation is nuts.

Autotrader pricing suggests £19k private sale and £17k part ex. Doesn't take options into account but I'd think £20k at most.

Wonder what WBAC price is!

As others have said, it’s well spec’d (the adaptive dampers are a rare option), but pricey.

Why?

If you like it, put your big boy pants on, bid low and aim to end up at what you think it's worth. What's the worst that can happen?

So life has got in the way but just had a look at these again, it seems the prices are still very strong, potentially higher than when I was looking earlier in the year!

Also thoughts on this example?

Strong money for sure but if it ticks all your boxes why not. Lack of photos in the ad is the only thing that would worry me plus not sure I’d pay a premium for the Birds kit over a standard car….

I was looking at getting an M140i last year but never did. I just check insurance now as it’s gone crazy over the last few months. £2k with 20yrs NCB!

I’m slightly dreading my renewal next spring.
Over the 4 years I’ve had the car so far it’s been £550-700 every year (except, inexplicably 2020 where it went to >£900).

Anything under £1k I’m counting as a win.

Seems quite a low spec car and not a Shadow Edition.

No H&K would be a deal breaker for me personally.

Insurance becoming problematic for younger drivers and thats pushing prices down.

I changed cars just last month and went from a BMW without HK stereo.to one with and honestly in my opinion the difference is barely noticeable, wouldn't bother me if I bought another without it now.

I personally think HK stereo is massively over rated

I think it depends what car it is in. I personally wouldn't waste my money speccing it in a F56 Mini again, however it does sound good in my M4 though(especially when you set up the graphic equaliser correctly). I also thought that it sounded ace in my brother in laws old 2017 530i as well.

I think BMWs standard stereos sound absolutely crap in comparison, and both the standard stereos in my E90 330i/330d were terrible to my ears for example.

I guess it depends on what you're listening to - and if you're played around with the bass and treble (or graphic equaliser settings if it has it) - i've a memory stick with around 120GB of music on it and it definitely comes alive if the files are FLAC files rather than .mp3.

And as per Cerb's comment - it does vary by car, in terms of how ok the standard sound system is, relative to the HK one.

We've had HK in my F56 Cooper S, our M140i and now in my 2018 M2. My wife has a 2020 Z4 without it, and to be honest it sounds very flat and dull by comparison.

I dont hold the HK in massively high regard, i just think the standard sounds systems in BMWs are in general pretty crap - especially for the price people are expected to pay for the mid to higher priced cars.

That sounds excellent in the current climate! Who's it with and what's the excess?

They're completely ste at the boggo/entry level in comparison to the equivalent/baisc Volvo offering, in my experience.

They might also live 20 miles from any other people. I am inner city so suffer the insurance that comes with that!

LV and &650 excess (£500 compulsory). On a multi car policy, wife’s JCW Mini is £180!
Renewal coming up in December which I’m not looking forward to.
