100% agree with this.

Also fail to see the logic of spanking £65k on something you'd go on thirty minute drive for at the weekend. And if you have kids, half the time those drives would be ferrying them to extra curricular activities like dance, sports etc. So you might as well use the family bus anyway.
Yes, you really don’t understand smile
Care to elaborate?

The fact that the OP started a similar thread with an £80k budget 12+ months ago, asked all the same questions, got the same responses from the same posters and is back again would suggest we can look forward to volume 3 this time next year.

Is that why the majority of sports car have very low mileage on them?? Because they are generally used for hours on end on a daily basis….NOT! Lol.

I would agree.

OP is not going to buy.

And surely someone has some emotional connection and idea about what car to buy at this sort of price? I know I do.

Prove us wrong OP and go and buy something!

Plenty of people buy Porsches and Mustangs and use them as a daily driver. I know a few and I'm sure there are PHers who do this.

I also ran a 1st gen Cayman back in the day as my main vehicle pre-children. Not in the same league as a 911, but still fairly pricey to run especially when factoring in depreciation from mileage.

A Ferrari, Lambo or even an R8 I'd understand you'd not want to be punting about for a commute and only take out on 'nice' days.

thumbup my Mustang is my daily driver, so was the Giulia QV before that.

I'm not in a position to have multiple cars, so whatever I have is my daily driver for 12k-ish miles / year.

But the vast majority don't though. As an example, of the 60 Porsche 911's for sale on AT that are 2013 registered only 10 have covered more than 4k per year. An that's for one of the more useable options.

Understandably yes, but you wouldn't even touch 2k a year if you did 30 mins a week on a weekend which isn't worth the hassle of insuring, maintaining and depreciation in my opinion.

Apologies to the OP if you feel I'm picking on you, that wasn't my intention, I was just expressing my opinion. I hope you find the car you're looking for and your family enjoy it :-)

As others have said, pics of your eventual purchase please!

I’m fancying a car like this (but not that budget), and already feel the season is somewhat lost.

Plus premium already in on this kinda car.

Gonna probably get funds/choices lined up for spring next year and grab a bargain (relatively speaking) in Jan/Feb time.

Bit crap to miss out on trips right now but frankly I can’t be arsed travelling around to see cars that turn out to be turds.
I can’t remember seeing any seasonal adjustment over the last 3 years.
Maybe a different winter this year?

I’m sure I see good examples of cars moving and less good ones lingering, come the nicer months.

Winter would subdue the demand side and thus leave the good stuff hanging around?
Might not get a deal on price per se, but get access to the better examples without as much competition?

I love these, didn’t think they’d depreciate so much though.

There was another general used car thread on here around the start of the year where some guy was trying to get rid of his. Said WBAC reduced the offer from £70k in December to £25k at the start of the year. 2 Porsche dealers he tried didn't want it as they had used stock they couldn't shift.

My mate has had 2 of them. 1 was fine, the second was an absolute lemon.

My C63 is my only car and averages about 6k miles a year, mostly at the weekend, mostly in the summer. Don't like to think about the cost per mile as £1000 for insurance, £500 for tax, £800 for service etc etc add up real fast. As the weather was awesome this weekend we took it to a car show on Sunday then to the coast for fish and chips today, made me smile every dirty sounding mile................. Yes it's a waste of money but some smoke, some drink, some have kids, the C63 was my choice and I am lucky enough I can afford it.

Yep, but as you've said it's your only car and you do low miles, so why not get exactly what you want?

So i've been looking around at dealerships etc...and dwindled down to the following:

A porsche 991.2 or wait around until easterish for the porsche 992....it may just get really cramped in the rear after around 3 years though.

An alfa gulia QV......it will do the job for the next 5-6 years.

A G87 M2......a very nice car BUT will the looks grow on me or will I never look back it as I walk away from it every weekend??

Ford Darkhorse - Nice but a little too 'american' for my tastes.....not seen one in the flesh yet and will have to wait until it is released.

Hmmmmm....

Giulia QV is the pick from your list, it has the looks & feels special at low speed too, oh & it'll devour family duties so you're more likely to use it. smile
