Top is a Monica, and close behind is the one-off Bristol 407 Zagato, which frustratingly has just come on the market for the first time in decades. I'd snap it up, but the asking is a million dollars apparently. And the 560 TEL tulip wagon of course!

They sell for much, much less than the V8 and sound nice too. I enjoyed my 4.2 and the car would definitely be diminshed without that fabulous soundtrack and effortless torque turning into decent high rev pull but at £4k+ for a dog earned XJ8 vs £1,500 for an equivalent XJ6? Has to be considered.

Biggest issue with the X350 is ageing dampers in the £1k a corner air struts. Once the suspension is tired there aren't any reasonable solutions.

I really like these cars, but for something like this I don't think silver is a great colour. Before I got the M3 I was tempted by this one
