I really like these cars, but for something like this I don't think silver is a great colour. Before I got the M3 I was tempted by this one

At the end of the day I wanted something a bit less barge-like, but the colour scheme on that are fantastic (Friday thread budget breaker).
I like them for how pointless they are, which is very in keeping with the barge ethos, but ultimately it's just a much less useful S Class so I'd buy one of those instead. The biggest advantage of the C216 over a W221 is that none of them come in truly dismal plastic door card / plastic seat hose clean Uber spec like most S Classes, even the basic ones got imitation leather on the dash and so on, and lots were upgraded to actual cow leather. They all come with ABC too, and that's rocking horse poo on an S500.

The C215 I am much more enthusiastic about because it's pretty and the contemporary S Class is wk.

OOOF gif needed
Mega-OOF. What a gorgeous colour-scheme, 100,000x nicer than the usual silver over black.

Turbo technics 124 looks interesting. Much cheaper than an 500E I’m guessing. Can’t decide if I love or loathe the colour. At least the steering wheel’s UK friendly

I'd change the wheel colour but otherwise, tip top that.

The rear 3/4's been given a good polish anyway!

Possibly NSFW

I really like the facelift than the older model. It looks to have better materials on the interior buttons than the A8 were having at that time. The air suspension could write the car off unfortunately. It is also LWB which is nice. I wonder if they ever fitted any other wood colours apart from this ginger which looks a bit too bright for my likings.

I know estimates/guide prices are sometimes there to get you sucked in but 6-8K seems quite reasonable ?

Would it really be 380bhp eekbounce

Forged internals and twin turbos, doesn't seem out of reach if done correctly. Maybe more like 330-350hp on an honest dyno.

I think the biggest issues with aftermarket/tuned cars, particularly forced induction, is making that power consistently, in all conditions, for long periods of time (high speed cruising, track use, mountain hoon). Getting rid of the heat becomes a big problem with high power, for every 1bhp of power you're making you have to get rid of very roughly 3bhp (2.2KW) of waste heat.

You're not a fan of big triangular holes in the bonnet filled with the raciest chicken wire we could find behind the shed?

Mod note - raci-e-st chicken wire. Not racist chicken wire.

He is spot on. I turbocharged my TVR Chimaera, and it was lovely to drive an 1100 kg car with 400 bhp on the road. In reality you give it short squirts of power thanks to speed limits, so heat isn't an issue.
But on a track day it wasn't useable at 7.5 psi boost because there was just too much heat produced. If you are actually using the power then you are on the throttle or brakes for 20 minutes solid at a time. I constantly had to turn mine down to 2.5 psi, at which it made 325 bhp, which is in NA territory other than the turbo delivers significantly more torque mid-range.
I ended up having to rebuild the engine and so reverted to 4.6 NA, but that's at least partly becuase I wanted to be MOT legal if I decided to move permanently abroad. I miss the trubo power delivery.....but not that much.

U ok hun post incoming....

Just a quick post to say goodbye to threadists on the best thread on the forum. It's been a pleasure knowing you the last decade or so, particularly meeting up and in a couple of cases buying cars, and I do hope the whole Barge ethos does manage to continue against the current headwinds that all cars face, particularly the large and profligate ones that we so love.

Given what PH and it's membership have become I think I need to break the habit of coming on here and goading the endless supply of red faced angry bitter fkwits that now populate the place, there are enough of them I cannot avoid dealing that to then spend what should be recreational time with them is just too much, I've only really been sticking around for this thread. If I ever miss the rest of PH I'll watch some re-runs of Harry Enfield's "considerably richer than yawww" sketches and reminisce.

I'm also deleting rather than abandoning my account so it's harder for future people to find all my posts and realise what a bellend I am.

All the best guys! (This was Stickleback123 for when it changes the poster name to anonymous)

Well, that's a shame, have enjoyed reading Sticklebacks posts but can't say I've noticed him goading anyone except W220 owners.
