Not as simple as he's making out though. The numbers just don't stack up unless you're also making some significant saving in other areas eg BIK. Then there is the question of whether there's actually a suitable vehicle.
Looking at it simply to replace my daily runaround would need to be at 220 pm 8k miles incl maintenance, preferably for an estate. Otherwise it's costing me money. BTW to get to 220 have included a couple of big garage bills.
Nearest I can get is 270 is for a Chinese MG over 4 years. No maintenance included either. So Nope.
Opening it up to SUV / Crossover types nearest can get is stuff where the loadspace is just too small, but let's ignore that for a second, again over 4 years, Mazda MX30 271 pm, or Kia E-Niro 372 pm.
Again for those figures the upfront fees and payments have been amortised into the monthly figure. Again maintenance not included because cba to get the additional figures.
But it is that simple, I save £1500 a year on fuel. I can either use this to get a better electric car for the same price as a petrol car or I can just pocket the savings.Looking at it simply to replace my daily runaround would need to be at 220 pm 8k miles incl maintenance, preferably for an estate. I just go on leasing.com or lease loco and find what electric cars are reasonably priced, then go on whatcar and identify which dealers would be supplying the brokers and go direct to them and don’t pay the stupid broker fees.
Whether it’s electric or petrol the other fees are comparable (insurance etc) so the saving is the saving.
The Tesla 3s, EQC’s, etrons are mostly funded through businesses when they are able to save on tax. I unfortunately don’t get a car allowance or company car so have to use my own money.
My budget for a car was around the £300 mark, however I have signed up to to an electric Kona at £370pm using similar maths to you. I worked out it would cost me £140pm in petrol to do 10k per year vs £125 a year in an electric car, so I would be looking to lease a car around the £240 mark to spend the equivalent.
In my opinion I wouldn’t be able to get the same level of performance and technology for that price so it makes sense to me. Would I get a Kona if I could get a company car? Nope, I would be driving around in something more fancy for similar money!

I would rather walk then lease from Pink. I returned a pristine BMW 5 Series 530e. Not only they praise the car twice but provided invoices of bogus body repairs that were needed. You might say this is a one of but this forum is filled with complaints. AUDI A3 SPORTBACK 35 TFSI S line 5dr S Tronic

Hi all,
Not sure if this is so much a deal but the option I'll likely be going ahead with and just thought I'd post if any use to anyone.
Lexus 350h w/ Premium Pack, Lexus Link Pro and Metallic - £325, 9 x 35, 5k miles.
I've had a look via LeaseLoco and the prices seem to be going up and whilst a Kia Sportage would have been my preferred option, the Lexus badge wins. Not too shabby though, considering the Lexus is AWD and puts out a total 240hp (roughly).
Unfortunately the Premium Plus pack or the 450h push this to way out of budget.

I'm sure you've done the maths. That works out as about £1/mile.Not sure if this is so much a deal but the option I'll likely be going ahead with and just thought I'd post if any use to anyone.

But still way cheaper than the £488/month PCP Lexus offer I guess.

Glad you posted that, I was looking at a Yaris deal with them for my wife. They kinda haven’t left me alone. Definitely going to be avoiding them.
Big Thanks to those who pointed me in the direction of Arnold Clark in Glasgow for RAV 4
They were brilliant and I ended up FTK on the Excel trim 2WD with metallic blue and pan roof for 310 a month, 1+35 on 5k miles - MY22
Happy with that given the mental prices lately. Won’t get it for at least six months tho due to delays

8k per annum
Excess Mileage- 8.16p per mile (again including vat)
£250 cashback offer as well I can claim for.
Had a Skoda Scala Monte Carlo on order since June but cancelled as no sign of it. Quite different I know but I'm never fussy. 4th from here (cactus, golf r estate, v90cc)
Vanarama and Greenhous Shrewsbury easy to deal with. Good comms unlike a few others I've used.

They literally sent me photographs of someone else's car as proof that I needed to pay them for repairs on mine. All very underhand. Gavtt225 said:
Just had confirmation of my build week from VW - April 11th and delivery in May for the VW Tiguan R Line deal i jumped on last month.
I was expecting the worst but i can cope with that as i've extended my current lease until May as well so fingers crossed it works out.
Where did you order from if you don’t mind sharing? I was expecting the worst but i can cope with that as i've extended my current lease until May as well so fingers crossed it works out.
What was the deal? I’m looking for a Tiguan myself at the moment.
May suit someone after an A-B descent spec auto suv on a 24mth deal. Bit cheaper for the manual.

Good evening all,
Like you all I’m having a hard time picking my next car, I’ve had a few very cheap leases from here ( 208 GTi, Cupra 300 and currently Merc A250 ) and the harsh reality is everything that is decent is massively more expensive this time around and fuel prices are making ICE cars look less and less appealing.
My company uses arval and you can lease on a salary sacrifice type scenario, all cars come as a package - insurance, road tax, breakdown, servicing, tyres and you only pay 1+ as a deposit ( worth a look if your company offers it, EV’s used to be very cheap on there )
They have a BMW IX3 on there and it’s £540pm for everything, the price is making my eyes water but I could afford it, it’s a also a £60k EV and has pretty much every extra and option included as standard and ticks every box for me.
I know it’s my ultimate decision, but thoughts on the cost vs the car ?

Just make sure the salary sacrifice does not adversely impact your employers pension contributions. Some schemes do, others don’t.
