I've seen it, I think it sounds good, if it were a sports car. In a W140 I think it absolutely ruins the car.
I'd assumed it was a joke thing to do with some cheap old smoker they'd bought, I think it'd get pretty old if you tried to actually use the car for more than laughs 21st Century Man said:

It feels like many moons since I started my first contribution to a new volume by asking if it was in that one the 216 would enter thread. Bar salvage, I don't think we've ever seen one at sub 5, 5750 advertised became common a while ago, but they are fee and far between and concrete drives still need cars parked on them, so even the ropey ones still seem to find homes. Cheapest available seems to be this, you're not getting that for thread!

I have a suspicion the state will just keep upping the tax on this sort of vehicle (in terms of perceived CO2 output) until they force all but the dedicated enthusiast to give them up. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/2024022769...
By comparison in the UK we pay equivalent of €1,805.
Granted this is based on new vehicles but you can certainly envisage a scenario here where this starts being applied to older vehicles to get them off the road. So other than historic/classic/high value cars that’s the end of any kind of barging for the likes of us.
Get ‘em while the going is good.

Then you have the ULEZ zoning to double team us with.
My dad has two cars that are both £700 each to tax and they both do about 5/6k miles a year combined.
Like most things the state does, it’s utterly retarded.
He could have bought a disgusting diesel Passat 12 years ago, done 30k miles a year and paid just £30/annum in road fund licence.

I personally think they "tax cars based on CO2 emissions" is utterly obscene. Why?My dad has two cars that are both £700 each to tax and they both do about 5/6k miles a year combined.

Well.... Why should a car which emits, say, 300g/km but does 5k miles per year pay more tax than something that does 100g/km but does 25k miles/year?
Then, we already get taxed by emissions based on fuel economy. Drive a less economical car? Pay more tax at the pumps. Drive more miles? Pay more tax at the pumps.

They have impacted on the pleasure of vehicle ownership a lot in the last 20-odd years but I am thankful they've not done as much damage as some of the other administrations in other countries. In Ireland for instance, insurance premiums are obscene. The special tax on X5s in France was mentioned above. A lot of countries have a zero modifications policy.
On the other side of the coin, there are lot of states in the USA (they set a lot of their own local laws) where they have even more freedom than we have here.

Just for interest; I may be in for a good slapping.

The engine options available in the Nissan President allowed customers to choose the level of performance that suited their preferences and driving style. The V8 engines provided a balance of power and refinement, while the V12 engines took performance to a whole new level. Regardless of the choice, both engine types showcased Nissan's commitment to delivering powerful and sophisticated luxury sedans.
AS far as I know, the only road going V12 production car in Japan, is the ‘Toyota Century V12’ a fact which I thought is widely known or am I wrong?

Running costs are a bit of a no no on this one! 18.5mpg average fuel consumption. 100 litre fuel tank. And you're not really getting much for all that investment. anotherswifty said:
From PH auction, 2011CL63 AMG at a whisker over thread currently. The guide price for a near 15yo car seems fantastical. 4d left w 3 bids so far. I suspect it won't sell.

Wot a load of BS in the descr, to save you the bother of looking - I didn't even click more - here is a snippet;
There is a lurking brutality to the CL63 AMG. It has the aura of a heavily maned lion - ostensibly sleepy and dormant, right up until the second it decides to roar into life and tear through a herd of antelope.
Utter c*ck !

I can't see that being very rewarding with 340bhp to move 2.2 tons of ugly for your 18mpg. Get the turbo or don't bother at all, surely?
May as well be all in on something like that. daqinggregg said:

4.5L V8 by the time it was discontinued in 2010. There were never any options either, it had just the one engine depending upon which generation it was, so the preferences/style comment is utter guff.
They're getting President/Century confused.

How unlike a motoring journalist not to put the slightest bit of effort into researching their work, so that they end up spouting complete and total bks.4.5L V8 by the time it was discontinued in 2010.
