I find it’s normally the insecure people who accuse others of being insecure. smile Anyway, it comes down to personal choice and some of us just don’t want an EV yet. This thread is dominated by people wanting to save money, the main reason for driving one, and for many of us, it’s not a priority.

I probably will get one one day, but only when the technology is a bit better.
You're not the sharpest knife in the drawer, are you Gary?

I paid cash list price for mine and stuck the 911 in the garage for weekends I wanted one so much. It’s really not about saving money, they’re just better the vast majority of the time. You don’t get it because you haven’t tried a decent one with a genuinely open mind I think.

That they save money is nice but it’s not the main reason for getting one, not in my case at least.
I didn’t buy mine new but approved used with a £9k deposit contribution and settled after a couple of months.

I didn’t buy it because it was electric or for any cost savings, I bought it because I drove it and really liked it.

Over a year in now and still rate it.

I also find it’s simpletons that accuse others of being thick.

Gary repeatedly ignores people telling him that the cheapness is a bonus and the fact they're better is why people buy them. Don't be thick like Gary.

Better than what? Only people who say that EVs are
better are the ones who already own/rent them and need their life choices, and love of spreadsheets to be validated by others. Call me names if it makes you feel better, I’d rather be unpopular than boring.

I’d say that all EV owners have been or still are ICE owners so they’re coming from a position of experience.

And authority no doubt, unless you’ve always driven st cars, electrical, ICE or otherwise. Tell us about your Suzuki Wagon R.

Periodic £10K EC budget check (over 1/3 of all autotrader cars are below this price)

Estates x2 MG's
SUV only MG or Kia Souls (SUV tag for them a bit dubious?)

Coupes even more dubious here! Citroen Ami, Renault Twizy or Smart fortwo (I don't think any are over 100 miles range)

Tesla model S £9k 148K miles and a battery issue?

So nothing fun, large or practical EV wise for a huge part of the buying public.

Don’t know much about EV’s as they don’t interest me, but Taycans look good value and extended warranty seems cheap.

Are they a bad EV?

Hard trying to find balanced opinions on EV’s because they are so polarising.
Rent one for a week or so and live with it.

There's loads of practical EVs.

Fun is also subjective. 99% of drivers think point and squirt performance is way more fun than the asthmatic run-of-the-mill ICE they've swapped out of.

Fun in the sense that you mean is an almost worthless niche to any manufacturer other than the likes of Porsche and even then we've been told endlessly for the last 20 years that they have to build SUVs to make the fun cars viable.

And even on the large point. I walked past an EV9 the other day, it's pretty bloody big, how big an EV are you wanting?

Never tried one of those. I’d happily tell you about my Porsche 997 or my NSX, but really I’d rather tell you how good my EV6 is as that’s what I choose to drive most days!

You're projecting here Gary. I don't have one yet but overall I think they are betterfor me for mere road driving. I'll still have an ICE for track days though.

You're also confirming that you can't accept that some things can be subjective.

Not really, I just get tired of being called names just because I have a different point of view. There are a few bullies on this thread, who simply cannot accept that EVs don’t work for everyone and some of us just don’t want one. Hence the thread’s title.

Which would make sense if that was what the title read… although I guess ‘EVs… some people want them and others don’t’ Doesn’t quite have the same ring to it as is far too truthful biggrin

Hang on a sec. YOU'RE getting tired??? You're one of the main protagonists on this thread that can't accept that some people have an EV that they're very happy with. All of those people that either still own an ICE car, or have moved from ICE to EV, so are coming from a place of experience.

The thread title of "EVs...nobody wants one" was always designed to bait EV owners into replying as to why they DO want one.

Coming on here to slam people's real world experience as "nonsense" or "evangelism" is just plain rude.

If you don't want an EV then don't buy one. Nobody is forcing you to.

I don't really want another Caterham to use as a daily driver, but i'm not on the Caterham sub-forum telling everyone why one doesn't fit my use case.
