that C63 did not sell. went up to 12k with an estimate at 14-16k. Not sure I get the vendor's decision on this ie a car like that in an auction with the 15% thing and the obvious pitfalls with auction-it's probably a car someone will retail at 17-18 so I'm not sure how even at 14 + commission that this works out?

I am going to keep an eye out for it. If anyone see's it ANYWHERE please let me know.
As you say, with the 15% auction thing you're never going to get a good price....

DO NOT go near him. Dig a little deeper and you'll find much darker stories about his crime laden past, too...

Sold a Clio to him I took in part ex against a car to help a friend - it was a SHED - in fact no, that's being kind.

Anyway, he paid £250, said he was after it for spares, chipped me from £450 but I was sick of the sight of the thing - 30 minutes later, it was up at £895 as a faultless example, it sold within days - scrapped within weeks.

I reckon you will be ok, car looks legit. Back seats in good nick. I think you should go for it, it's got 58k miles right? You could even seal the deal by taking the vendor out for a night in Carlisle.

Sorry, it was just a play on the thread's general distrust of West Yorkshire. Mainly Bradford and Keighley.

It's like Classic car auctions are a new thing or something. They all charge a buyers premium although it has been sneaking upwards the past few years, overheads I suppose. rolleyes

Brightwells put it up from 10% to 12% a couple of years ago, CCA still at 10% (but more if you bid online frown ), ACA up from 6% to 8% 3 years ago. All plus VAT too. SWVA curiously is now 10% inc VAT so 8.333% really. scratchchin

Some others like Bonhams charge 15% PLUS VAT so 18% really. eek Unfortunately since bidding from at home really took off in 2020 (for some reason....), a lot get carried away so bargains are rare. Although, as mentioned previously, many don't sell, guide and reserve prices are too high and don't reflect the 'times.'

Probably see it popping up on a used car lot for £14-16k + 15%.

I watched many of the sales in that auction because I'm really sad. Some of the lots went for incredibly low prices. The Saab 900 convertible went for £1600.. it had been mucked about with but even so, I wouldn't have thought it inappropriate had it sold for £3-4k.

Soon, there’ll only be two types of bargeistes remaining… those who appreciate red socks with red shoes and those and don’t. The imagine.

Agree, that Saab must have been a shed up close. Alloy's would be £1k.

BMW 8 V12 went for £9k, non runner. That is a potential world of pain.

Conti GT Jack Barclay went for £44k, I think good value.

It sounds posh.

Now thread, random question, if someone happened to have every issue of Mini World magazine from number 1 through to the end of last year, where would be the best to make others aware? No charge to collect, for an established threadist, including recent new joiners, so this is not an advert, unless PH has a "free to collector" section in which case I can probably put it there being an oldie myself. They're in Bristol. And heavy!
