Not sure of the links policy, but here's an unusual one I saw on Reddit. A Chevrolet Epica turbo diesel manual that he can't seem to shift. Trying to sell it for £1500 but apparently hasn't had an offer above £250.

Worth a punt for anyone here?!

A brave move.
The colour is marmite.
The spec is just a badge, no one is really going wow over a 16 year old Jag that wasn’t very popular.

The rotton sills were a shock though. But a lot of his purchases are blind which is a bit of a concern when you’re in the buying and selling business.
Mostly all of the stock he has is overpriced. I bought a car unseen for a £1000 then spent a fortune on it in the hope to claw back some of my money. If all else fails I’ll stick on the raffle website.
He doesn't buy half of it, he takes it in part ex.

Strong money for a 20 year old Ovlov, but the provenance might just justify it.

There is absolutely no joy in that.

Spotted this earlier - didn’t a thread regular (Alec?) have this plate? I’m sure I remember it looking nice on the big Daimler.

Yes, he bought it cheap, now it isn't. I previously posted it when it was up with someone else at 8k, quite how it has defied gravity and risen in price is anyone's guess.

Fair play if it's still his and he gets it.

Having remembered where this thread was hidden, I have a barge related question.

2009 Audi C6 4F All Road V6 turbo diesel.

Massive bork factor or a relatively safe purchase? Is the air suspension problematic? Anything else?

Ad is here - yes it is more expensive than a UK car but cheapish for down here (only 7 for sale in the whole of Oz).

In fairness, you've also got to factor in how your typical Bruce or Sheila maintains their car, are they like the majority of us UK folk seem to be - as in running a car on a shoe string and ignoring warning lights - or because it's a larger country with bigger roads, is maintenance a thing thats drummed in and it's had everything it's ever needed, when it's needed it.

I think he should forget the Audi and get that Jaguar with the dagger in the bonnet that comes with excrement on the steering wheel. The vendor seems to be a shipping magnate and has already intimated that he is happy to ship that wreck to Cyprus.

Airbags of any type worry me in old chattel.

I lived in Perth in a previous life and the Bruce's had a utilitarian approach to their vehicle maintenance and it generally meant they bought Japanese and chucked some oil in it every 100,000 miles. Having said that, I bought an old Prelude there that was from the 70's and it worked (this was 1999) because it was a Honda, but mainly cos it wasn't rusty.

And it didn't need an MOT

That advice about looking at how well the car has been maintained is possibly the second most important stage in shed/barge buying.
The first being researching the known issues history of the make/model you are thinking of buying.

The cars I have bought with due dilligence on these two aspects have lasted well and cost me little.
Those I have rushed in and bought on a whim have been the opposite.

It has a slight misfire and the owner cannot afford to fix... The mot has expired in 2017. I believe it is a Nikasil engine as well?
Good point. I guess at those miles it could still be an issue sadly.

Was tempted by one of these and went to see it, the interior feels like you are in an old Bentley and that engine is certainly "special" just not in a good way. It is not very muscular and is very (overly) complex. It actually sums up the expression "just cos you can do it, doesn't mean you should". They are designed to overheat (something to do with the bonkers cylinder architecture)

Shame as my dog seemed to like it.
I suppose the reality of that engine is that you'd really only want it at throw-away money.

Seriously tempted by that Renault.

I had three of those in silver with the blue interior between 1984 and 1992, and did about 250,000 miles in them.
I even specified air con in the last one, as an optional extra.
"Why do you want aircon?" the puzzled Renault sales executive asked me. "It's November".
I was too stunned to answer that.
