Audi SQ7, nice high spec but surprised me. Only lost £1500 in 18 months and 22k miles. Makes a change!
That's superb!

I sold my 335d via wizzle earlier this week, for not much less than I paid for it a year and 11k ago. The first bid I received was already more than I’d hoped to get.

A polite gent from the dealer turned up when they said they would and after a cursory inspection of the car paid the agreed price (£1550 more than WBAC before the usual teeth sucking).

I’d definitely recommend using wizzle. Tip though, don’t just accept the first offer, if you sit on your hands you’ll find that bids increase. The bid I accepted was over 1k more than the first one I received.

P/ex'd my Golf GTI against an M3. The BMW dealer were able to match the bids I got from Wizzle and Motorway (all three beat the WBAC price).

The price I achieved was about £500 less than similar cars are retailing for at VW dealerships. Nice to get a good price but the M3 was strong money so I think my cost to change was pretty flat, certainly no money in my pocket from trading up!

Out of curiousity I re-checked my XKR on WBAC yesterday. About a year ago when I last looked it was valued by them at £17000, yesterday it was at £20500. At this rate it'll be worth more than I paid for it in another 2 years! biggrin

My Ghibli V6S on WBAC has risen from £22k in March to £24,500 now.

I paid £26,000 15 months ago from Sytner who must have acquired it for less than its current WBAC valuation!

I have just sold my 20 plate MINI Cooper S for £18500 using Motorway.co.uk (paid £19500 brand new). Buyer ended up being Arnold Clark, who valued the vehicle at £17900 if I went to them directly. WBAC was offering £17100!

I have used Motorway.co.uk previously to get out of a PCP and they got me around £1000 more than I was offered anywhere else.

What happens when you sell WBAC a car that has mechanical issues? Do they ask you to disclose any known problems or Can they come back to you and reclaim money if they find problems you didn’t tell them about? How detailed is their inspection? I have a mk1 TT 225 that has been nothing but problems, I could easily get it drivable and from the outside it’s a very clean car. I’m not out and out trying to rip them off by lying but if their algorithm has a hole in it for me to sell them a ropey car then who’s fault is that…

I wouldn't sign anything that there weren't any unknown faults or gave the buyer any recourse. Also draft your own receipt stating the buyer has fully inspected and no warranty is given.

They are buying at auction prices so can't expect any recourse above that.

If he refuses to sign the terms the transaction simply will not go ahead, and both parties time is wasted.

iv) you have disclosed to us all matters which a prudent purchaser would want to know about, such as physical defects in the Car (e.g. if it has any material mechanical problems or damage);

If it was me, I’d stick on eBay and declare the problem.

Yeah that’s quite likely what will happen to it. Just wondered if people were still using WBAC to offload knackered cars, sure in the past it was pretty common.

Not surprised there is such a clause. These companies want to pay CAP but want to have some form of recourse. How can anyone sign to that clause...doesnt have even have to ones best knowledge.

OK I used wbac this week.

A decent valuation. Basically £200 less than I paid for the car.

Upon arrival appraiser says that looks in great condition.

He then found three stone chips on the lower front valance and knocked off £400 for that.

I protested but relented with the take it or leave it shrug given.

Would I use then again? No I'd go back to private selling as buyers also don't tend to charge me fees of £100 for the joy of selling the car to them on top

The prices are crazy, 7 months ago they were quoting 14.5k for my Car, tonight it is 20k.

I bought a car yesterday 11.2k (main dealer, different marque. Negotiated down from 11.5k). Car is immaculate. No stone chips.. wbac offers 11.8k.

Sold my wife’s year old Evoque to WBAC last night. Got a quite frankly unbelievable quote from them, was pretty sceptical but we were in & out in literally ten minutes with the full price paid. No-brainer for what’s effectively became a driveway ornament.

I’m not sure how they are going to make money on it!

People at auctions must be buying them from them and they aren't stupid..

Makes you wonder if we are heading to higher secondhand prices to come and maybe longer term (like Ireland?) etc

The peak value I have seen from them for my car is £17k last week, this week it's down to £16,825. I think this is evidence the bubble is bursting tongue out

It doesn't sound like much of a burst but perhaps a smooth return to normal depreciation... but from a higher level.

Or they are just not as interested in taking your model of car… that plays a massive part in what they are willing to pay…
