Only downside, urban mpg is terrible. On my Corsa VXR it never goes lower than 30mpg no matter what. With the Civic i've genuinely seen 17mpg through town.

This was my thoughts behind choosing an ep3, the k20 just seems to go on forever regardless if you spend the entire time thrashing it's arse off! They do use a bit of oil tho I must say

Some of them do. Mine never needed a drop between services once it was run in. Think it had 55k on it when I sold it.

In your position (a few years ago now) I went for a hot hatch. What I should have done is gone for a nice MX5. It would teach you a bit more about driving dynamics and RWD which I'm sure you will eventually want to get into.

A mk3 MX5 can be had for well under budget.
