Thanks all - Plenty to think about there, A few that I'll tick off:
- M100 - not a good looking car, FWD, bad build quality, never liked them, and starting to fetch silly money for god-knows-what reason.
- TVR S - Had one, didnt really do it for me
- Chimaera (good chouce but..) - Had 2, not in the mood for one at the moment - I run the facebook page.
- XJS - Had one, prices have gone mental, paid £2k for one a few years back - bit of a barge really.
- 916 GTV - I certainly wouldnt be spending that much on one of those!!!!! Bit too new as well.
I do like the idea of a Fulvia, the interior on that Beta is.. special!!!

Another smallish Italian, the often overlooked Fiat 124 Sport Coupe...

That looks lovely! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiat-124-Sport-Coupe/11...
I went to look at one in 1980, but it was a scruffy example and I ended up with a P6B Rover as it was cheaper to insure.
Would a Fiat 124 Spider fir the bill?
Something a tad different

Its got Italian styling.
Keep your eyes peeled and one may come up with the circular front lights which look 4000 times better.

Rather sounds like you made your mind up before starting the topic. But just don’t want to post what it is you are interested in?- M100 - not a good looking car, FWD, bad build quality, never liked them, and starting to fetch silly money for god-knows-what reason.

err..... go on, what had I decided on? I'm intrigued?
(you are wrong)
Why should I know what you are wanting? You’ve got a list a no’s. And have dismissed or ignored anything meeting your fairly strict criteria. (you are wrong)

Are you wanting a modern classic or something say 40+ years old?
As in reality there are only so many British or Italian couples available for £10k that will appreciate and be easy to sell on in a years time.
Are Stags still in budget? Although they might be light by today’s standards, they probably where a little more lardy back in the day and not a million miles away from an XJ-S.
How about something like a Singer Chamois?
Well if the mind is not made up, how about an Italian gem in a Maserati?
This is a keenly priced spyder but i don't imagine it will hang around long -

or perhaps a biturbo

Don't believe that you should lose much over 2 years of ownership. Certainly different to the standard classic fair. Who doesn't love a Maserati??

Fulvia and Betas (except Montecarlo) are fwd...just saying as it was a reason you gave to not like the M100.- M100 - not a good looking car, FWD, bad build quality, never liked them, and starting to fetch silly money for god-knows-what reason.

Also, the Beta interiors (don't know about Montecarlos) are very cheap. Earlier Lancias (Flavia etc) are ten times better.
I was looking for a £10,000 Lancia a couple of years back. Fancied a Flavia but they were £15,000+. Betas- look nice, but the examples I saw were poor...and the interiors are cheap as I said. I ended up with a 105 series series 2 AR Spider. RWD, Limited slip diff, decent performance and brakes for a classic...and well balanced, surprisingly nimble handling. Not for rainy days really...but which classics are these days?
If I was going for value for money then definitely this: https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1017482 Pinin-Farina luxo barge 30mpg, '80s hot-hatch lift-off oversteer handling and lovely 12 valve V6, what's not to like?

Beautiful (apart from the colour)! But they are stunning cars - I've always wanted one of those since I saw one at Earls Court Motor Show on one of the annual visits my Dad took me on. I think I might have the brochure somewhere in the loft!
