I'd rather have 6 cylinders mainly behind the front axle than 5 of them in front of it...so for £20k a M140i is a good idea or a LCI M135i with a diff and M4 LCAs would be significantly better than even a RS3 from a driving experience POV.

Somethings gotta give. If you really want a RWD drivers car, then you'll have to forget the 5pot dream unfortunately. Maybe look at BMW Z cars, S2000, or even better a TVR!

I'm in a similar position with £15k to play with in the coming months, so good luck finding something - just make sure it's what you want and not something "that will do".

Not 5 cylinders, but 8 and RWD - C63 coupe?

OP the car you're looking for doesn't exist unfortunately, but they're some cracking options:

Rather than an M135/140 which are decent steers go for a full fat Nismo 370Z which are great drivers cars but they're hard to find:

If you want a car that's nearly as good a steer but has a considerably lower bork issues then the equivalent M3 then take a very good look at the Lexus IS F:

The C63 is another good choice like the M3 there are lots to choose from so take your time to choose the right one.

The very good leftfield option would be a VXR8:

If you don't need the space then I'd say go for the SLK55, they're not the most powerful but they're an enjoyable car:
