Have you discounted the C43?
No. Again there don't seem to be too many for sale (3 cars on MB UK used car site, two with no pictures yet). This one is local to me
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202304166... but I don't like the after market wheels and its pretty much the same price as a similar age car from MB that comes with a two year warranty.

Some good choices there and thanks for the heads-up on the warranty situation I did not know that. Quick quote on the C43 you linked suggests a cost of £1329, which seems pretty good for two years piece of mind.

I got my C63S a couple of years ago and it took about 3 months to find the right car. There are not many around (compared to M135i's) and a few I looked at had been bent at some point or had other issues.

If you want a black, grey or white car they will be fairly easy to find, blue and silver are rarer.

The saloon is the most numerous, then estate/coupe then cabriolet.

I went with a low milage low option silver coupe as I wanted to keep it and worry that lots of gadgets and sensors from the options are expensive fixes.

The S's electronic diff is a worry but there are not many that have failed in the forums. The E diff gives much better traction than the mechanical diff but it makes it a bit less playful. The S also has adjustable engine mounts and the bucket seats and both make the S a bit more special in my opinion. It also has race mode, bigger brakes and track pace app which don't bother me.

The S still commands quite a premium over the non S cars, you pay your money and take your choice.

There’s a clean looking blue 2017 C63 estate just gone on the C63 AMG UK classifieds group…. Asking £34,000, it looks nicer than any on Autotrader for the same money.

Is that a Facebook group? For what its worth I don't really care about the colour, I do like the Blue colour but I'm not that bothered. I did just put the number plate of this car https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202304256... into the MB warranty quote tool - £5400 for two years, not sure if that means this cars does not have full MB service history or if thats just the cost. Will try a couple of others. But if thats the going rate for a C63 then thats a non starter frown

The C63 warranty cost is significantly more than the C43. Parts in general for the 63 command similar money to the M-Car tax. The 43 is much more inline with the standard 300/350 cars making it great value running cost wise.

Get a C43, remap it, stick your 2K in a savings account and hope you don't have to use it. For what it's worth the MB AMG cars are considered to be very very reliable at this point. Unless you're seriously abusing the car you'll be unlucky to land a hefty bill.

Main dealers give 2 years warranty on used AMG cars.

"Every Approved Used Mercedes-Benz car comes with a 12-month guarantee of comprehensive unlimited mileage warranty.

Mercedes-AMG cars receive a 24-month guarantee."

You'll pick up an approved C43 AMG in budget but no chance with a 63 as don't think they stock cars over 5 years old. Cheapest at the minute is an 18 plate C63S for £45k.

WarrantyWise are asking £4200 for a 2 year warranty on the C63 on AT above, with a £5k repair limit..

Yes AllyBee, it's an offshoot of the main UK C63 group.

I have run my car for 2 years without warranty and it was the right choice, I had a coil pack (£250) 2 years ago and aux belts (£350) last year. The aux belts were getting squeaky on start up so I doubt warranty would have covered that. They are expensive if things go wrong but they have been generally reliable except a couple of E Diff's, a few MAP sensors and lots of coil packs. The E Diffs tend to go on tuned cars pulling multiple burnouts so mine will last forever. The coil packs bake in the heat of the V8 and red hot turbos.

You might also want to look at protecting the radiators and cooling on the front of the car as they are very open and susceptible to rock / stone strikes, Mercedes manufacture a set of protectors which don't cost a lot for the facelift 2019-on which fit on the pre facelift cars.

A lot of the warranty issues come from cars which are not warmed up before driving hard, BMW M cars have the same issues. It's a 510bhp V8 and like all cars it requires a bit of mechanical sympathy until its up to temperature.

My M135i had a warranty from BMW which I extended at a cost of around £500 a year, over 5.5 years I didn't claim once as it was perfectly reliable.

From what I have seen the C43 is just as fast as the C63 in the real world thanks to its 4 wheel drive but the C63 is such an event, the noise and the fight for traction make it an epic package! Try and get the performance exhaust as it makes a huge difference.
