Sell your car the Motorway

Tried Motorway at the weekend to sell a 68 plate Fiat 500 with 24k miles.
Went with the suggested price, got no offers on Monday. They re-ran the bidding yesterday, no offers.
We felt that their suggested price was a little too high (£450 over WBAC), and it seems that it was.
Traded in yesterday, against an older Mini, at the WBAC price.
Is there any charge from Motorway if you don't manage to sell a car through them? I've considered them for my BMW M240i as they are coming up around £1500 more than any other car buying service. Went with the suggested price, got no offers on Monday. They re-ran the bidding yesterday, no offers.

No charge to us, as their suggested reserve wasn't met. Not sure what happens if it meets reserve, but you reject the bidAyBee said:
Who else should I be trying? Cazoo seem to be coming out top for me having tried WBAC and Motorway.
Evans Halshaw paid top price when we were shifting our Focus ST a couple of years ago. I suspect Cazoo are paying above average because folks are nervous of their financial situation.Motorway quoted £1500 lower than for similar models on Autotrader, so I figured I would give the latter a go for a week or two. Car was sold at asking in three days, and I had pitched it around £1500 over the Motorway price. My sense is that WBAC and Motorway have reined in their prices compared to last year. Might be worth a private ad if Motorway/WBAC pitch on the lower side.
Just thought I would add my experience for others considering using Motorway. I was selling a 20 year old Porsche 911 in excellent condition. I didn’t have the time or inclination to deal with private buyers, so contacted a couple of specialist dealers, one of whom actually recommended Motorway. The process went very smoothly. It’s a bit of a faff taking all the pictures, but the car sold for the reserve price and the dealer was very easy to deal with. A third party car collection chap came to take it away, who was very complimentary about the car’s condition (he spotted a couple of stone chips/dents but said they were so minor they wouldn’t affect price) and the money was in my bank account before he drove off.

I had a very similar experience selling a 986 Boxster and was happy with the end result from MotorwayG-996 said:

This is where Motorway are much better than WBAC, as you have a much wide spread of bidders, some looking for 20 year old Porsches.Sold our 2020 Defender via Motorway 2/3 months ago - got £150 less than what I paid for it new in 2020. result....as it was 4k more than what my local landrover dealer was offering as a trade-in
Anyways, the Motorway experience was good with Motorway themselves, the problems were with the buying dealer - took 10 days to come and get the car and pay for it, continuously lied to me too, whilst re-asking for same details over and over
Would I use them again? - Yes I would, but I would ask them not to include dealer above, if they win auction as I wouldn't be interested

I can add another positive experience. Back in 2021 I sold my VW California through Motorway to a VW main dealer in Scotland. Price was where I wanted to be at the time - driver arrived to collect and money was transferred before he left. Very straight forward in terms of photographs and documentation that needed supplying and if the price was right I'd use them again.
Had a relatively positive experience recently, selling probably one of the highest mileage M140s in the country before moving abroad.
I probably over-photographed dents and wheel imperfections, but I was surprised to have a reserve £2.5k higher than the WBAC price and an offer 3.5k higher.
Dealers turned up within 48h (two blokes collecting two cars) and did haggle. They cleverly used ‘head office’ on the phone as their guide. Went for £500 below their offer which I ended up taking as I was running out of days before the move.
Overall, positive as it went for considerably more than WBAC, who also would have knocked me further on damage. However be ready to tell them to walk away and don’t do it in a time-pressured situation like I did.
I think it would be more hassle-free with a newer car when main dealers will be interested.
