Mobb have you been quoted delivery times on the cars. Was wondering how long you d need to wait for a new one?

When I was looking to buy my current Picanto 3 weeks ago, I found a few pre-reg or in stock on Autotrader at Kia dealers. One dealer (Brindley Kia) was happy to deliver 350 miles at no cost. In the end I went for a secondhand low mileage local car, which had been traded in to a non- Kia dealer a few miles away from the original supplying dealer. Almost £3k cheaper. Got a decent price for my trade-in too. My local Kia dealer doesn't often do deals, or pay top money for trade-ins.

I'd say the 1.0T Picanto is the pick, I've never got on with the UP GTI the ride quality & not so sharp price mean I'd be looking at a hatch from the next segment up.

I know people who are happy with them though so I'd say test drive both.

Three months isn't too bad. Can probably get a new or nearly new Picanto for price of a 4 year old up Gti it seems.

The Picanto won a fifth gear group test that included an Up hands down but Plato picked the Up " because VW"!

There is also the Hyundai i10 N-Line which is mechanically the same as the Kia, which could be a good option as they have just announced a facelift for 2023.

Yes I like i20n but not good on insurance. Am already pushing what's sensible with Gti. Really should just buy a 60bhp car but struggling to do that!
Have you ran an insurance quote for the I20N.

Only reason I’m asking a driving instructor round my way is using an I20N for the last few months.

Excellent.

I'd like to see the examiners face when you're approaching some twisties and the car asks if you'd like to select N mode. Or maybe you could configure the exhaust for a few pops and bangs and use the rev matching to make them think you can heel and toe!

Great bit of marketing.

A few of my mates passed their tests with a guy who had a Nova GSI & then the Corsa version. I signed up to learn with him and he changed to a Daihatsu Charade

Quick update on decision. Picked up a Picanto this week. So far very impressed with it.- its well specced, fun to drive and looks good. Time will tell on whole life costs but whatever happens I am sure it wont cost much to own over a number of years. I would have gone for a Gti if it was just for me but this is better for learners as a bit cheaper on insurance.

Thanks for all the input.

Should give you years of trouble-free driving. Kia warranty seems to cover nearly everything except some electrical items (battery and infotainment) for the full 7 years.

The only issue I had with my first one (19plate) was some corrosion around the centre caps on 3 wheels. Replaced under warranty. My current one (21 plate) seems fine.

Yes should be painless to own. One thing I don't like is fact the DRLs switch off when you put the handbrake on I thought they weren't working initially when |I got it home.

Impressed with economy on motorway trip other day as it was doing nearly 70mpg. It wont go on motorways v often if at all but it was surprisingly relaxed and refined.

As I say so far v impressed.
