Not sure your budget, but I reckon a 6 series like this https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202301193... has more presence than any of those three, if that's your goal.
I always got lots of positive comments from people when I had the F13 640d in deep sea blue as well. I personally think that it is a nice looking/great shaped car, and one of BMWs best designs of fairly recent years. A lovely interior for a BMW too I reckon.

ETA...I had the ivory white leather as well and that really lifted the interior I thought(cream floor mats and carpets were a ball ache to keep clean over winter though).

I see you have already been pulled up on your choice of language in your first post biggrin

How many miles a year do you do? Do you really need a diesel?

Out of your choices, I'd probably pick the white Mercedes because it's the only petrol one. The black wheels put me right off that BMW.

I'm sure there are better ways to spend your 20-odd grand. Here's what I'd be looking at

Alfa Romeo Giulia Super 200

BMW 420i M Sport

I read the petrol engines in the c200 and even c300 (same engine I think) are not that great. There's always the c43 which I do like but they're obviously a lot more expensive.

I've always really liked a nice coupe. To me there's something about them that's a bit more special than a 4dr saloon. But I think they also need a special engine for them to make sense. Just my opinion.

It's a generation older but I've always admired the older E class coupe.

And that engine would be a nice fit.

As a general rule diesels like full running temperature and long distances/high mileage from my experience. It depends on what your journeys are like. If you're doing lots of short distances then for me you'd be better off in a petrol.

Diesels are also good at offering higher mpg on long journeys too, but if you're only doing short distances then they can be much heavier on fuel. Diesels also benefit from long journeys to keep the DPF(diesel particulate filter) in good health, and it will get clogged up/could potentially give you problems if you're only doing short runs.

Also here’s my dilemma.
So I’ve come to terms with the blue one is nicer looking BUT its only £1200 cheaper than the white one even though it’s done 15k more miles and 2.5yrs older, diesel and the insurance is more expensive on the blue one. So in terms of money and value in the future it makes a lot more sense to get the white one at such small price difference.

The white one is £1200 more expensive , 2.5yrs newer, done 15k less miles, petrol and is cheaper on insurance

Blue one is better looking but more miles, older, diesel, more expensive on insurance.

Thoughts on this

Blue one, white one…..what about the black one?

Is this satire?

Whenever I think a Ghibli is a good idea I just remember Doug De Muro pointing out the enormous panel gaps.

So yeah, as Lee said in the post below mine - what I really should have asked was what is your typical journey length?

For me now, my daily commute is only 5 miles each way (when I use my car, I often use my bike) and because I live in a city and do lots of short <10 mile journeys in stop-start traffic, a diesel doesn't make sense. This is because the DPF on the car won't get a chance to regenerate properly, it'll end up blocking and then be expensive to repair. Other emissions control stuff can also fail like EGR valves, etc for the same reason. Fuel economy won't be that much better than a petrol either.

I used to have a job where I had a 40 mile round trip commute and would make 500+ mile round trips every month to visit family - back then, having a diesel made more sense as I'd get the fuel efficiency benefit from it, averaging 50 mpg on my commute and 65 mpg on longer journeys. Once I moved into the city doing short journeys, I was only getting 35 mpg and then the dreaded check engine light came on.

If you're picking purely on aesthetics then it really is just a 'you' question, personally I think the infotaintment in this generation of Mercedes is absolutely awful but the rest of the interior and exterior is above that generation of 4 series... I'd probably swing for the Mercedes, though I wouldn't expect any of them to 'turn heads' as they're both very common and not particularly exciting.

Honestly, I think ZX's suggestion of the Q60 would be far better at turning heads, more car for your money and generally just a more interesting option.
