I see an Evoque cabriolet most mornings.

It is hideous.

It's like the mum driving it cannot cope with having given up her pram, so she bought one with an engine.

If you need room in the back, get the S class.

If you need room in the back, but want to look cool as it's not that roomy in the back but is OK, Maserati. Won't be under 4 years old, but won't be far off. And just look at it. Then look at an Evoque. YKYWT.

Really like the Evoque soft top. Only things stopping me from owning one are money and the fact they appear to have been assembled by blind chimpanzees on a month long acid binge.
No the blind chimpanzees on a month long acid binge were the ones that designed it - hideous thing probably suggested by Victoria Beckham in her design adviser role! What on Earth were they thinking - luckily killed off pretty quick.

Boring world if we all liked the same things though.

Audi S5
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202304286...

Unfortunately though, the Audi S5 won't quite manage 30+ mpg, realistically. You'll be looking at more like 28 mpg. If you go for the A5 with the 45 TFSI engine, then you'll manage more like 33 mpg, but you lose 2 cylinders and a little associated smoothness and sound - in fact, this is the case with many of the cars here
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202305197...

Similar story with the E Class Cabriolet - here's the V6 E450, but again it'll only manage around 25 mpg
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202303225...

To be honest, the 4 cylinder E350 doesn't fare any better on fuel economy in the real world. I do prefer the styling on this facelifted model however

BMW M4 - appears to have been on sale since last September - there could be a reason for that, but it also means that a deal can be had
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202209149...

But this is what I'd pick, whereas the M4 will only manage 28 mpg, a 440i can better 32 mpg and supposedly even top 40 mpg "on a run", whilst still retaining that lovely 6 cylinder goodness

Finally, here's a Ford Mustang with the 2.3 Ecoboost engine
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202210120...

Actually, the 2.3 Ecoboost is often no more economical than the 5.0, around the low-mid 20's mpg, so you might as well go and get this one

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited - great with the roof off, loads of room too - get the hard top stored and kept for winter and get a soft top for the summer and they're great fun!

Ignoring some, if not all of my criteria. I’ve got the hankering for Porsche convertible. Need to be able to fit two kids in the back, 11 and nine so meets that criteria just about.

Not really up to speed on Porsche models, anyone care to give an opinion on this one?

Given that your kids are aged 9 and 11 I'd say it's fate!

I have an B9 S5 convertible, 30 plus is only achievable on a very steady long motorway run, over the last 15000 I have averaged 24mpg.
Other than that its great, but some of the things been mentioned M4's, E53 will also struggle day to day getting over 30mpg unless you are nursing it every where.
The E class has noticeable more room in the back than an A5/S5, I Iiked the E53 but much preferred the coupe with pan roof over the convertible.
