I have some back issues and found the XC60 I test drive recently very comfortable and a nice place to be. My wife thinks it's too big though so I need to work on that as the XC40's not available with the XC60's 450 bhp. biggrin
I could be wrong but I am sure I remember reading the seats on Volvo's are in part designed by orthopaedic surgeons so that they are good for the back/posture. Certainly some of the most comfortable seats I have sat in and I have a "bad back" too.
Interesting, thanks thumbup

What about an A6 Allroad, rides a little higher than your S6 (and can be raised a little bit further), though not as high as a Q7 or Q5. It should have plenty of room for the dogs in the back.

And you can get the 55 TDI/TFSI for a reasonable price, which should have similar power to you S6.

55 TFSI

Shame we cant get those in the UK in that spec.

What’s wrong with back, looks quite stylish to me, its not like you’re going to be spending a lot of time looking at it.

If you’re looking at a semi-sporting SUV, there doesn’t seem to be many options in your budget. Looking forward to see what you decide on, after the S6.

I haven't made my mind up, not by a long shot, I'm really unsure of what to get. But I don't really like the look of the X3 if I'm honest, I'll have a look at them as well though.
We have a 2015 f25 X3, albeit with the 2.0d engine. It's plenty pokey enough. We've owned it for nearly 4 years, and it's been faultless (although, its booked in for 2 recall notices). It's a fantastic car, does everything perfectly. We shove kids and dogs in it daily, and it it's wearing family life well. You would never know its an 8 year old car. Looks are an odd thing as I never initially took to it, but I can honestly say I love the way it looks now. It's the xLine model in blue, if this helps.

Sadly the newer model (2018>) doesn't look as nice, so I don't think we'll be opting for that in the future. I believe they stopped this model in 2017, so it's a little older than you'd like. Worth a look perhaps?

Yes, they are nice but it needs to be 2020 onwards as it would also be my company car for a few years so can't be too old, and I believe the ones from around 2020 got the massive grill? frown

I'd keep the S6 for a few more years if Mrs A wasn't broken.

The 45 TDI Allroad is in budget here but not the 55, unfortunately.

The XC60 T8 is growing on me, I think it might have something to do with the 392PS biggrin

I had a Kia Sportage for a few days whilst on holiday with the family, lots of room, latest technology (car play\android auto, heated seats and steering wheel, reverse camera, etc), drove well enough and the 1.6T (150bhp) engine was punchy enough, they also do a 230bhp hybrid or a 260bhp PHEV.

Ah well it puts that to bed, but certainly makes sense! Yes the grille definitely got bigger a few years back.

Blooming women always causing grief! I jest of course. I hope you find what you're after smile

Thought you were based in Germany, or are you talking more locally in your region? The TDI 50 is not far behind the 55 in terms of acceleration numbers if you find one of those (5.7 rather than 5.3 to 100kph iirc).

I'm actually also looking at the F Pace 300 at the moment, the I Pace is out of budget over here and I also can't go full electric until the range is a realistic 700kms as I quite regularly do day trips involving that mileage.

I've a XC60 Plug in Hybrid. Third Volvo (others were a XC90 and V90CC) I will replace it next year with another T8. The newer versions have a bigger battery and more power.

I never push mine that often, it has plenty of power for safe over takes etc it's subjective but never feels 'fast' to me even in sports mode. I think the German alternatives may be slightly better drivers cars but the Volvo's are hard to beat particularly if comfort is an important requirement, the seats are the most comfortable I've had. In inscription guise, heated, cooled, massage option.

The Infotainment is a bit marmite and a fairly old system with a lack of physical buttons and dials. Newer models have Android and Apple car play and use the Google OS.

Used cars are always a lot more expensive over here than in the UK for some reason, so that will also play a role.

To be clear, I haven't even looked at anything yet, I just liked to look of the Evoque but there doesn't seem to be much love for it on here so maybe that's a nono biggrin

The Alfa would just scare me, sorry.

The Volvo does look like a good option and I could easily get the XC60 T6 AWD R Design AWD within budget, if the back view of it didn't make me want to violently throw up.

the Mercedes GLC400 is out of budget.

The Macan would be my choice but is also way out of budget.
Why on Earth would the Alfa scare you?
Reliability?

My Stelvio was the most reliable car I’ve had for a number of years - far better than the 911 turbo, a new Alpina, and two new Golf R’s…

Alright, calm down. biggrin

The Alfa would scare me reliability wise, yes, I'm sure they're fine these days so I'm probably being unfair, apologies.

I went to look at an F Pace 300 sport yesterday and that was a lovely thing thumbup

What benefit do you think you’ll get in terms of comfort and ease of getting in and out from an SUV that you don’t from the Audi? Have you considered taking your wife to some dealerships and trying a few out to get a rough idea whether they might work for you both before even driving one?

Just not having to sit quite so low, getting in and out of the car. My two dogs also find it quite cramped in the boot of the S6.

For me, with a bad back, it's the more upright seating position. Specifically my knees being bent more rather than stretched out in front of me.
