...and even if the saving was only available with finance, you take the finance then pay it off straight away with the cash you've got in the bank. Finance doesn't give you cancer, it really is OK.
Is just a pain to do extra paperwork with associated impact on credit rating to then immediately clear it, when you could just buy outright with your debit card/bank transfer.
It isn’t. Both my parents do this with their cars. Usual 80 year olds, 2 new cars every 3 years! Take out dealers full discount on their credit terms, pay it all off the next week or two.

PS, they both have new Fabias!

I’ve done it a few times buying new and used Audis, some with finance contributions some with free services. I took the finance and then paid it off a day or two later. The first time, it was the salesman who told me to do it!

I would have no moral issues with this, i.e. paying finance off immediately. In my opinion, it's dishonest to advertise a car with a headline price that's only available on finance, just to attract our interest. It's unethical on two fronts, it's misleading and it's encouraging people into debt, even though the terms are set out, usually in the small print. They deserve to be messed around.

Am thinking of doing the same, as Audi used PCP comes with an extra years warranty and 2 free services, have you had any problem with the service package once you had paid off the finance?

No problems, still got 2 free services after I paid off the finance after a week. From memory I think all it costed was the interest on the loan for a week or so.

This doesn't appear to be the case in this instance, but there are many other dealers stating things like: "Price is £21,000 with our finance, call for cash price".
I’d be surprised if the FCA would allow that. We were stopped years ago in banking from tying things together like this, and it seems certain to fall could if “treating customers fairly.”

That’s not to suggest that they aren’t doing it, but they shouldn’t be.

I've never had a problem paying by credit card for any of my cars and I just pay off the balance.

Not huge money obvs but my M4 put about £30K on my card for a few days.

I’ve never known a dealer willing to take a credit card for anything other than a deposit. Debit cards have always been fine, but never credit cards.

Is this in the UK?
