I remember when I was looking to lease and seeing there were companies which did rolling monthly leases, and one in particular cropped up most.

Can anyone remind me who it was please.
Were you thinking about evezy.co.uk for electric cars??

I don’t think it was just for EV’s. Could be wrong, but I thought it may have been one of the hire companies that did it. I’m thinking of something to tide me over and look about when we know what’s going on with the market after this Covid business takes its toll

Serial leaser looking for guidance, contemplating unknowns here and my common sense/rational is well and truly exhausted. I've did some searching but would really appreciate third party thoughts right now.

Anyone with any first hand views, good or bad, with regards to any of the following? I'm all ears

In no particular order...snog, marry, avoid biggrin

Gateway2Lease
Lease4Less
Leasehub

Thanks
Friend had good experience with Leasehub, including weekly status emails and car arrived exactly on time. G2L is popular on a forum and seems to be ok.

Hey all. I'll soon be leasing for the first time and was caught off guard that new cars now need to pay road tax. I was wondering if you guys had suggestions on what to watch out for? Like for example, could there be a gap between what the insurance pays and what the lease company wants in case of the car being totaled? Should I look for things I wouldn't need in a normal insurance?

Never had to pay road tax on a lease - the user is not the vehicle keeper so is not responsible for it. I have just taken out a new lease with VW and they pay as they did with the previous leases.

There is a section here on PH dedicated to GAP insurance and a lease focused product is available.

Interesting. I had mistakenly assumed I'd be the registered keeper.

Judging by the FAQ thread I'd say a GAP insurance isn't necessary given the initial payment is only 3 months.

My car was inspected and picked up by BCA on 15th May, the inspector turned up late (5:30ish) and I had to leave so left him to it. He did seem to be going through it with a fine tooth comb so it left me with a nagging feeling. Received the condition report from BCA later in the day with £364.80 in charges tallied up which seemed excessive to me as I genuinely thought most charges would have fallen well within fair wear and tear. I wasn't there during the inspection so couldn't push back.

I remember reading a post somewhere here that VWFS sometimes write off charges below a certain amount so I was hopeful of not being charged the full amount, but lo and behold, letter received from VWFS on 5th June detailing every single one of the charges and hitting me for the full £364.80. I got on the phone right away and said I was disputing all the charges as I felt they were within fair wear and tear, and in any case the BCA inspector turned up late on the day and I wasn't present during the inspection so cannot attest to his report being accurate.

VWFS put a hold on the charges and filed the dispute as a complaint, I then received an email with the below:

Thank you for contacting SEAT Financial Services on 05 June 2020, we acknowledge receipt of your complaint.

We are committed to our customers and the experience they have through every step of their journey with us. This includes when they are unhappy with our service or products. We will assign a dedicated Executive to your case who will be in touch to provide you with any progress and may ask for further information to reach a conclusion to your complaint.

We aim to reach a resolution at the earliest opportunity and within eight weeks. However, following the Government's advice to protect against the Coronavirus outbreak in the UK we are experiencing an increase in customer contact at present and therefore it is taking longer than usual for us to provide you with a suitable solution, we are sorry for this delay.

Will update here as and when.

Not with PCH (Personal Contract Hire), you don't 'own' the car in any way - if it was a PCP deal then usually you would be the keeper.

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had reduced their PCH contracted mileage with VWFS recently. I'm currently on 10K mpa but can see this being more like 5K over the next couple of years. I know of instances in the past where they've done this and reduced the monthlies. I'm guessing they'll not be quite so accommodating in the current climate! Thanks.

You can ask them to reduce, no problem. There will be admin fee of £60 to sign new contract with lower mileage.

Can anyone give some advice on servicing for my Merc A Class ?

I've got it on a 3 year lease but am keen to avoid the 3 year service !

Its first service is due on 16/7/2020 - i presume there is a way of delaying the first 2 services so that the 3rd one won't be due ?

thanks

I have had 2 cars with Leasehub. Excellent experience both times although the trick is to initially call them and try and get rapport. They're often flat out and you're just a small fee income but perhaps if they remember you it helps a little.

I recently had the same issue on an Audi A4. Due for service in May but contract ending in June.

My solution was to terminate the lease early and pay the fee (55% of the outstanding amount payable) which came in at less than the service cost. This can be a very effective solution if you are within a month or two of the end of the lease and want to avoid a £400 to £500 service bill.

The problem is, even if you do first service later, MB can setup next service on time, not year from the service, but year from when it should be. That's what they did to one of my Merc in past. I think it was MB Brooklands or MB Epsom that did it.

Earlier termination may not make sense, as MB Finance doesn't give discount for it. Last time I had Merc, it was 95%.

Absolutely. It’s seems that how the leasing business works is lost on many contributors to these threads. People seem to expect a retail service, multiple and frequent dialogues, haggling, cheap coffee etc. “I sent an enquiry an hour ago and I’ve heard nothing” (I kid not, that’s a paraphrase but somebody said this recently). Brokers and dealers are fulfilling fleet allocations for tiny fees. You cannot expect the red carpet treatment. If that’s what you want it’s PCP or cash.

Exactly

the lack of fawning and smarm is one of the appeals of leasing.

After all "buying" a car is really no different than a fridge or TV. Just a bit more money.

Thats a fair comment - although my method is to try to avoid the brokers wherever possible and go directly to the dealer - you have a more direct point of contact in terms of progress and delivery and don't have a broker fee to pay either.
