I was starting to get suspicious hence me asking a few times for a picture of the place.
Likewise - I asked for a pic of the purchased Wrangler, but nothing...

And as it it's posted in a car-buying thread primarily, that should have been no bother.

Hhmmm..

I only wanted suggestions for a vehicle for the road, in fairness. I didn't want to post ANY details of the place particularly and i certainly don't want the location revealed, something we decided from the start.
The location would be obvious from any detailed photograph so i am fine with you having suspicions, that's not an issue for me.
ANYONE who did any online searching would realise where it was, from photos. Unless they were internal.
The hebrides and the highlands in general have been a haven for us for 25 years and we have always wanted a bolt hole that didn't cost a fortune. We want the location to remain private so all the questions have been unwanted, to be blunt.
The guy on this thread who lived on Skye will know the score about the island. Especially when you are a southerner buying up property.

The topic was the road leading to it, maybe i should have kept it to that. Because that is the only thing pertinent to car buying threads. Homes and holidays would be a different subject.
The guy posting above who lived at Sleat would know where the place was in about 5 seconds. Sorry but i want the location private and the house is almost IDENTICAL to the one i posted, except the entrance lobby. Which is a lot bigger.

Getting a photo of a cheap car would be so difficult of course if that was my aim, to pretend i bought one!
Oh the glory that would go with telling everyone i've got an average condition Wrangler. OMG.

So.. you posted the wrong photo deliberately, hoping no-one would notice? That doesn't do much for your credibility frankly. rolleyes

Hey man, relax, I wouldn't post pics either. Enjoy your property, and your Wrangler...I wish I had kept mine, great fun cars.

What use is the road bike though?
I haven't got a road bike! 250 cc trials bike, 2 mountain bikes, an electric lower-spec mountain bike and a Jeep, plus 2 sets of legs.
The house is almost identical to the one in the photo. Plus a bigger lobby. (Open type). Paint not as clean.

Well said, you only have to look at how quickly everyone reverse googled the picture to realise that there isn't much respect for personal privacy on here. The kind of person who appreciates what you have should also appreciate just how much privacy means.
I've had to delete a few of my own postings in the past when the vultures started circling and at one point had to completely renew my online identity as I let just a little too much slip.
Congratulations on your wonderful acquisition and I hope you manage to enjoy the peace and privacy it should afford you.

The house is almost identical to the one in the photo except ours has a larger lobby with an open access. I do not want the location revealed and yes i would prefer people not to be able to narrow it down step by step as had been happening.
With respect, where it is our business, something we decided at the start.
Credibility? Really not concerned, all the photos i did post over a 2 week period last month and this are proof enough. I am entirely happy for people to think as they wish. It's our second home since 2000 and we were always going to get something to call ours at some point.

Ok, gotcha. I don't blame you to keep it 100% secret. I certainly don't doubt you like some other idiots posting now. Totally understand your feelings, I'd think the same. Enjoy the house and the Jeep!

Fair enough - I can understand you not wanting to post pictures of the actual property - I was only (mildly) interested in the car that you eventually bought.

But biggbn, clearly some people want to know far too much about this and it's a little irking to be told to reveal the location when we do not wish to. Maybe posting the photo of an almost identical house was a mistake but as so many people wanted to know what it looked like i did what i thought was a good compromise.
Maybe i should just have said ''mind yer business''!
I don't even like cars like Wranglers as a rule so they hold ZERO hero-worship value for me, the same as a fairly run down house, off grid, isn't that amazing to declare you have bought.
HAD i said i have a 5 bed home in Kensington and a Bugatti Chiron, then, fair enough.
I've bought an ancient old Hebridean home at the end of a fecking horrific access route and bought a cheap Jeep so we can get there. It ain't lottery win bragging guys!

-I don't know about anybody else, but I'm here to see photos of cars (your jeep or the Defender) negotiating your track.

You could have just not posted a photo of a house, or said that it was similar to the one in the photo?

Exactly. Thank you, i suppose the wonderful internet has many down sides and 1 is privacy. Like you say within minutes people were googling like crazy to find out where the house is and that, i will now admit, is EXACTLY why i put a photo on from another holiday we took of an identical home. Like you say it was actually a good thing to do because by now the house would be known to everyone who wanted to know otherwise.
When we decided it would remain private we meant it. End of.
I am sorry you had to change PH identities due to the vultures you mentioned. But if i left this place i'd simply not bother reapplying. We are spoiled for choice for forums these days.
I'm still laughing that ANYONE would think ANYONE would boast that they'd bought a Wrangler. 991 turbo? Maybe! Chiron? Sure. Wrangler? BEHAVE.

It would have been very easy to say “it looks just like this one we stayed at once when we were on holiday “ when you posted a picture of A house after being asked to post a picture of THE house.

The Hebrides is a lovely place, I’m pretty sure you won’t see any paparazzi hiding in the bushes (since there are no bushes) and you seem extremely insistent on being private.

What's boasting got to do with it? You asked what the best tool for the job was, settled on the Wrangler - people are interested if it meets your needs or not.

A pic of the car, by itself or in action on the track and your thoughts on its capabilities would be nice.
