Seems pricey I’m in a 5008 and did 3 + 23 on a GT Line auto at £223 8k miles
Yes Jon and you pounced on that deal at the right time, it wasn't on for long (a few days) - was the engine the 1.6 diesel ?
Yeah I dropped on to be fair, perfect timing for me as had a 3rd child coming in the December as it happens it got delivered a day after he was born so picked him up in it!
Nice, make the kid wait while you go get your new car biggrin

Thanks. Honestly just want to an automatic that isn't too small (I'm tall).
There were some recent deals on Golf GT DSG and also Audi A5. Both decent options unless you are happy to go for some of the massive Volvos.

With some schemes the employee technically owns the car (ECO - employee car ownership) so there’s no tax. It’s a bit dodgy and it’s been said for years that HMRC was going to crack down on them but so far they haven't.
Its like the NHS scheme, but theres still a P11D and benefit in kind attached. NI free yes but not tax free.
Some of the manufacturers eco schemes provide interest free loans to employees (with an ‘admin’ charge) to purchase cars for factory gate prices. Employees have to change at the point of 5000 miles/6 months whichever comes soonest. More importantly they simply repay the loan but do not pay tax. As stated previously it’s been frowned up for sometime but still seems to be allowed. At the end of the period the cars are moved to manufacturer approved retailers.

Is that a salary sacrifice scheme, so tax free?

How much do you pay for insurance?
Theres no tax free company cars, use it personally and you get taxed one way or another.

It's not dodgy at all, they're just not very good schemes. Usually they're expensive as they lump insurance and maintenance in as well, and the insurance costs are high as it's a blanket scheme for all employees no matter what they're driving history is like. There is a potential saving if the scheme is presented properly and is just for the car itself, and the employee covers maintenance and insurance.

I'm in the process of setting one up for a customer now, I think it's a pointless exercise as we're also setting up an affinity scheme for them which will be far cheaper for the employee!

A bit more upfront but worth it IMO.

Dodgy perhaps isn't quite right, as HMRC has to individually approve each scheme, but there's uncertainty over responsibility for the car. Although in theory the employee owns it (hence doesn't pay BIK), they don't take on the usual risks of ownership.

They used to be good schemes and worth grabbing while you could if you got offered one - especially for higher rate tax payer in 'perk' cars.

So who pays for the car then?

with salary sacrifice car schemes you BiK, but you save income tax on the figure you spend on the car payments. However SS schemes are usually expensive, so it is moot as to whether it represents a decent saving for most people, and on anything other than the most economical/'green' cars. There is no such thing as a tax free way to run a car.

Brilliant car and very good deal. That's the lowest I've seen on these.

audi dealers knocking out the new A8 50TDi for £3k+VAT down and £500+VAT pcm. I know that isn't exactly an objectively amazing deal, but the new one is fairly technically amazing and for a dealer that is not terrible. Maybe signifies new underlying manufacturer support which may filter through to amazing broker deals over next few days?

Audi dealer told me last week that from April all support will be issued by Audi UK and will no longer at be at the discretion of brokers/local dealers. How that will change support I've no idea but there's a change around the corner

Its not £80 a month more. Just pay for the extra 2000 miles @ £140 per year.

Just had a proper look at the V60 at the dealers and the boot is astonishingly small.

Disappointed as we have two large ish dogs and they wont be able to sit in the back!

The V90 was lovely, however the physical size is mahoosive, and the wife wasnt keen.

So, scouting around now for any Passat estate deals if anyone has spotted any recently, although i have found...

9 x 23 10K per annum
1.4 TSI GT150 DSG
£1562 down
23 x £260

All inc VAT & delivery with no admin from Lookers VW, which is a little more than what i had found the V60 for.

Its not a good deal, but then neither was your 1.4 deal. All im saying the money your talking about for a 1.4, a little more would get you the 2.0 Diesel. Up to you if thats what you want. But I wouldnt be paying £60 a month mor for the 1.4 that eveyone was paying 4 days ago.

Or theirs the passat just posted above, not 4Motion but who cares.

If the BMW 5 Series deal is genuine I'm ordering.

However something smells fishy as the pricing on GB UK vehicles leasing website is a lot more expensive.

I have been trying to find a good lease for a relation but it's causing a huge headache.

The cars she is looking at are the following but with a 24/36 Month contract, 15,000 miles a year and a 3/6 month deposit.

Porsche Macan

Mercedes C43 Coupe

All this for under £650 per month.

Why did I offer to help biggrin
