2 cylinders shy of perfect, what a lovely thing.
Phwoar! Green over green. Very sensible pricing, I'd say. No, cheap at twice the price.

Even the textured door seals are green cloud9
This has been for sale for a while, is it just the price that’s the issue?
I would want the 6 cylinder for that kind of money. I see my 2.6 as a mini barge as a result of the smooth engine, even if it's a bit heavier over the nose (you are going too fast into corners then!), and ultimately slow as anyway. The photos are not of great quality either, so I wonder whether it looks as good in person (it might, but the photos there don't draw me in).

I was attracted by the green velour in mine as well - unusual. The cloth in this is a nice colour, and probably more practical, but just cloth.

Like all these cars, there's a niche market, and who knows what the 'value' is. Clearly, if you want to sell quickly, it's less than this is priced at right now!
I do love it for the colours. A 2.6 would make it tiptop but let’s be honest it’s not make or break as a performance car anyway. It would be just a pleasure getting into the cabin every day.

Very decent MOT history although looks to have been laid up between 2018-2021? Also, I’m always a bit concerned by deployment of a Magic Tree which could be masking something - in this case it appears to be in the n/s of the boot…

I'm new to this thread. Does this W124 300TE qualify for inclusion here?

Definitely a barge under thread rules.

It would be great to see a Reader Ride thread on this from you and your son.

Have you driven it? What do you think?

Love the colour, and the 300 engine. I personally don't love the steering wheel, but each to their own!
My son didn't love the steering wheel either... original wheel now back in situ...

The 2.6 isn't about performance (who cares nowadays as you say), but the sound and feel. I remember reading 5% of 190s were 6 cylinders, probably more of survivors now though.

I don't think the 190 is yet like the BMW e30 where any engine has gone to crazy prices!

That 300TE is lovely, the w124 is just one of those Goldilocks cars for me.

Ref tue V90, the heating is all done on the screen sadly but demist etc are all buttons. I have driven a lot of newer cars and this screen is responsive and the temp is adjustable from all menus so doesn’t bother me too much.

V90 is nice. Will be interesting to see how grubby the steering wheel gets - I'm always surprised/disgusted at the amount of muck I remove from steering wheels of cars I buy, which as they're black you don't see at first glance

Morning all, and thanks for the kind responses to my music post.

Just as an aside, my work bandmate is a stabby redhead of 27, who not only has a voice like thunder and a fledgling career in broadcast journalism, but can also rebuild a bike engine by herself, and will happily sit with you and talk about carb adjustment, Haydn, or who the sexy ones in the audience are. laugh

Life's really not bad sometimes.

I thought I'd post this GS450h- decent miles, fsh, under thead max.

£170k is absolutely ludicrous.
Yes, saw that last night. I really like Harry's style and content but think he was being somewhat generous with the review. The leather on the rear of the front seats was shocking and he dismissed the squeaks and rattles as 'they all do that'.... Not on a re-engineered vehicle costing £170k they should'nt. I rather suspect the mark-up on one of these is significant... A fool and their money and all that..!! All IMHO of course.

Congrats on the V90 baked_bean a lovely thing and a real departure from the LS460..!!

So over budget and devils fuel but I thought this might win some thread approval. It is lovely and smooth on the roads and has incredible seats (massage and all), gadgets and headlights. It has a different feel to the usual German suspect’s which is very appealing. Shame it isn’t quicker but it does encourage me to sit back and relax/enjoy my music.

It is a V90 Inscription Plus model:

That's very smart. I think these and the V60 are very handsome cars indeed. Enjoy it.

We had the same model for four years, a fantastic long distance car. Wasn't too keen on the touchscreen (I found ours a bit slow), but found myself using the voice control for setting temp, seat heat etc which I didn't expect.

If voice control has finally got to the point it works then that would alleviate the awful touch screen problem... Apparently the new systems in the latest-gen Mercedes (like the EQS and W223) is amazing.

Even so it's a shame that's a replacement for the tactility of a convenient knob or button... Near silent and easily operated.

I want your life.

Sadly these days it's less 'has she got a sister' and more 'show us a pic of her mum'!

If one wanted something like that, I think you could do better on a DIY basis. Body/chassis/paint restoration could be done by any number of bodyshops or specialists, an LS crate engine, even a silly one with 600bhp can be had for peanuts, a decent motor engineer could fabricate/fit drive train and top brand brake/suspension upgrades are off the shelf. Automotive reuphosterers are easily found. £75k?

I like the Volvos too. Apart from the speed limiter, the other thing that put me off was a sense that the integration of the tech and the touchscreens wasn't as seamless.

BMW really is excellent in that regard, although the voice-activation is still a little clunky, and I really like the rocker switches for temperature control. I too mourn the loss of a nice knob, but at least you can adjust heater settings without touching a bloody screen.

I watched it a couple of days ago. I'm also a regular viewer of Harry's videos and I completely agree - in fact I'm not even sure why he was clearly going easy on the car and glossing over the obvious flaws. I seem to recall poor quality paint finish in the engine bay too.

Carwow (and probably others, given that they seem to be doing the rounds) reviewed a white Kingsley 3 door RR Classic, and that car looked equally lacking in the quality of detail and fit and finish. Absolutely ludicrous asking prices for the level of finished product.

We may find out if when Harry gets his own Rangie restored.

My car has voice control too, in Japanese.

A bit scruffy, and they couldn't be arsed to wash it for the advert, but a six-cylinder petrol F10 which is nearly in-budget feels like an OK idea?

Edit: forgot the important bit https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202202212...
