I had six years of pain with my Cerbera and it's posts like yours that makes me realise I should have gone with a Chimaera instead. thumbup
I've always fancied (very much the correct term!) a Cerbera, and would love to have one in the garage one day (I need a garage first mind) but it's posts like yours that makes me realise I am probably better off with my Chimaera! biggrin
You did make me smile with that! biggrin

if in doubt

Abandon your requirement for rwd and get an Evo V/VI.

Perfect for the peak district (speaking from experience ) and can very much be driven like you drive your Clio.
I have a friend with a JDM impreza so this could prove fun. However I was under the impression evo parts were very expensive.

Not so much. There is a decent range of aftermarket / used parts now so signing up to somewhere like MLR means our can usually source parts from a breaker.

Main items are plugs and fluids, costs for this depends on your mechanical ability!

I had a VX220 previously which I got for less than your budget - awesome car, cost peanuts to run which was nice. I'd question how fast any Elise derivative is vs a Clio 182.
For a 10k budget, that's true. They're all quicker to 60, because they get great traction off the line, but the lower powered cars are in the same ball park as the Clio to 100 at around 17-18 seconds. The 111S/111R/SC/VX220 turbo and the various Exige models get that down to 10-14 seconds, but you can't get them for 10k.
Yea sorry I was meaning for the budget - should have said. Various more expensive derivatives will be much faster.

I know you have a Clio 182 but I would get a Trophy.

More expensive than others out there but low miles and good condition

I probably missed the boat on trophy's and it doesn't offer me anything over my current car other than better damping.
