Boxster would be my choice too, a purpose built sports car that would out perform most the alternatives as an overall performance/handling package. They just feel more special to drive compared to hatchbacks and bmws. Even the smaller engine 2.7 is a great car, for example:

Servicing/repairs of course going to be more than Ford but needn’t be too scary if using independent specialists.
