Really interesting commentary this, as 'everyone' has put the GT4 waay up there, and we all acknowledge it's great. It may well out perform the Evora/Emira, but at what point does that happen? because on any public road, you're more than likely doing something illegal to feel it.
To have a car that involves you within the legal limit is priceless really.
I've not driven and Evora/Emira
I've owned an S2000 for 7 years and recently 'upgraded' to a 981 Spyder, it's night and day in it's performance, it's handling is sublime, but I still remember the Honda's feeling of being 'alive' with fondness. There's a very modern/German feeling of "this performs better and is built better", but within legal limits, there remains a feeling....a bit too good, to the point where it becomes a bit ordinary (in its feel).... press on and sure, it provides ALOT of joy... but I reckon the Lotus is ATLEAST the equal of 718 GTS....and makes a really good argument for being the better road car when compared to the GT4.

After that, (or maybe including all that) it's all very subjective, which takes me back to what I said earlier.... your heart already knows what it wants, and the head very rarely gets a look-in when wanting something special... your list of cars will be weighted to make sure the one you want comes top wink

Saw my first Emira at the weekend and have to say it looked stunning. Would I have one over a GT4 though? I think probably not... (just)
Depends on your use. If UK B-road driving is the priority then you'd be better served with the Lotus almost certainly.
A scenic, but ultimately pretty boring commute. Anything more than a few miles out we're taking the missus MPV I'm afraid! Damn kids. I'll be able to revist my setup when they've moved out rotate

I'm in complete agreement on the bit in bold, I'd take a Cayman GT4 over any 911...but, that said, I'd take a Lotus Evora/Emira over a Cayman.
I would have heartily agreed with you before I actually owned an Evora S (for three years). The steering and brakes were otherworldly and it had a huge 'mini supercar' sense of occasion, but I got rid of it in the end as I couldn't live with (a) the contorted pedal position and (b) the CoG.

It taught me that regardless of how a car looks or feels, if the fundamentals are wrong then it's not for me. All V6 Lotuses suffer from this CoG flaw albeit the Evora NA is slightly better as it lacks the extra weight of the supercharger sitting on top of the block at driver's eye level. Will be interesting to see if the 2.0 Emira is better, but as a two-pedal only model it's immediately ruled out for me.
That's interesting to know, thanks. When I do eventually get in to an Evora (hopefully in 2-3 years), when I trade in the Cayman, I'm unlikely to be able to afford an S, so will just be the NA version.
