My daily for the last five years is a 435i which looks almost identical externally to the 4-series you are looking at, just it doesn't have black wheels thankfully. I can confirm that absolutely nobody will look at you in it, it's a nice looking car but not anything special and very anonymous, which makes it perfect to me - do you want people gazing adoringly at you as you park in Sainsburys?

What I can say is that it is also a fantastic car which has taken me all over the UK and Europe and if they still made the F32, I'd buy another in an instant - but whether a smaller engined one would be anywhere as nice, I can't tell you.

So I’m buying a new car and I’ve narrowed it down to 3 cars and I honestly can’t choose all have pros and cons to each other.
So I’m not a massive car guy so I’m not overly critical on performance, I’ve had my fast cars and I’m wanting something more classy, comfortable and nice.
So my main focal point is the car that looks the nicest and will “turn heads” compared to the other.
They’re all similar priced The blue one is a 17 plate amg line premium plus c220d with pan roof. The white one is 69 plate a c200 amg line with more modern interior and bigger screen. The black bmw is a 19 plate 420d m sport with nice 19” alloys but interior is nowhere near as nice as the other 2 but beautiful car on the exterior.

So what car would you pick if you had to pick one? and they’re all very similar prices too.

Also don’t want any negativity lol saying they’re all sh*t??

Thanks.

Out of your three I'd take the blue one, in reality if you want a nice smart coupe I'd either go for the E Coupe or if it's a C Class sized car you want then take a look at the Q60 the 2.0T uses the same drivetrain as the C200 & they're a nice place to be:

Or depending on how much you want to spend you can get the full fat 3.0TT (that uses the same drivetrain as the 400Z) Sport:
OP, out of your choices I'd go for the Blue Merc, but fk me that Blue Infiniti ZX10R posted is bloody lovely!!

Nothing beats a Ghibli V6S for something special at a normal price point. The German diesels are just standard PCP fodder that are pretty ubiquitous

I’d have the white one but in a different colour.
Ditto!
I'd go for the white as I had a C200 cabriolet 69 plate and I think it will be the 48v mild hybrid, it was a nice drive and a lovely place to sit. I'd prefer another colour to white but the C200 would be an easy choice out of those 3.

Sorry to piss on your chips but MB and BMW don’t really turn heads anymore ….
You need a Tesla for that nowadays I reckon! biggrin
I was thinking about this the other day. I can't think of anything that really turns heads, including Tesla. Everyone has Mercs, BMWs, Audis etc because they are produced in poverty spec, basic models and everyone has access to PCP, which gives them more money for a given monthly payment. FF Range Rovers turn heads but even RR models are available with 2 litre diesel engines, so the LR/RR brand is devalued as well. I live in a pretty poor area but far fewer people drive around in older cars than used to be the case.

Yes and I think that you probably need something like a Ferrari or Lamborghini to truly turn heads. I've only had the Cerbera that seemed to turn heads, but I think that was more about the fact that it had a loud exhaust rather than the way it looked though.

That Maserati is a lot of car for the money!
Whenever I think a Ghibli is a good idea I just remember Doug De Muro pointing out the enormous panel gaps.
That really irritated me, he was pointing out trim gaps. Panel gaps are between body panels, not the interior trim.
That and the fact that he kept whinging on about the technology of the entertainment system, not how it drove or felt.

That said, I still wouldn’t buy a Ghibli over a 5 series; but I wouldn’t buy a 5 series either.

OP: buy a supercharged Jaguar XE - it will be fun.

Unless it's completely off the wall I can't think of anything modern that makes my head turn but I can think of plenty that make me wonder where the eye bleach is instead. PCP makes most aspirational cars available to anybody from a duke to a dustman who can scratch the monthlies together so what anybody drives isn't any real indicator of one of life's Winners anymore either.

All a bit meh to me and it takes a classic or obviously well cared for older car for me to look twice.

Do you reckon the XE-S is a sweet spot in terms of fun and nice to drive? They’re on my radar at the moment but I keep thinking I can more or less get an XF-S for the same money and probably a lot more comfort. Still to test drive either though tbf!

The blue M-B is the classiest of the trio on your shortlist, but it's a diesel (which your mileage doesn't justify).

If you want a similarly-sized coupé that looks a bit different, have you considered the Lexus RC?

I'd say the XF-S is the better overall package over the XE-S but both are good drives.
