Are XKR’s so unloved that there have been no bids at all?

Under comments, it's not had the usual weak areas addressed judging by the vendor response to my questions.
Owner goes on to state he's 'Been a member of JDC, JOC and XKCC for nearly nine years'. I see no trace of it being advertised elsewhere. Wonder if the vendor even tried to sell it within the clubs he belongs to?
It is concerning that it's gone straight into an online auction where the vendor incurs no sellers fees or suffers any comeback - all the risk, including all auction fees, is on the winning bidder.......
I noticed your questions regarding valley pipe replacement and the venders somewhat arsey and condescending reply, basically stating that valley pipe issues are only experienced by plebs who can’t afford to run one of these, and he’s never heard of valley pipe issues on any of the Jag forums…..Owner goes on to state he's 'Been a member of JDC, JOC and XKCC for nearly nine years'. I don’t have a 5.0 Jaguar, but I do have a X350 XJ. There must be hundreds of valley pipe threads on the various Jag forums, so common an issue it is.
IMO, you buy the owner as much as you buy the car. And in regards to this guy, I’d be running a mile.
In the words of that Scottish bloke, “I’m out”.

Why has it been serviced every year even with such low miles. Are they really so finicky that they need annual attention regardless of miles?
Pretty much every car ever made in recent decades required servicing every 1 year or ~12k miles (e.g. manufacturers recommended interval), until very recently with the introduction of servicing every 2 years or ~24k miles. But yes if you do low miles then you can probably service your XKR every 2 years if you wish.If you tie it in with MOT etc all at once it saves the ‘computer’ deciding it wants a random service for one thing half way through the year.
And if you want a tidy SH then faffing with booking into chosen specialist multiple times a year, with the fuel/opportunity cost on time, it’s just not worth it.
Plus it keeps all the breather stuff using fresh oil, minimises any kind of issues if it’s sat, or used a bit more heavily etc.
Plus it also means it gets a decent look over (stuff MOT won’t check), each year.
The example in the PH auction looks fine. Guide price a bit high but nothing screams that it's a bad car.
The owner, on the other hand, has come across as a right knob.
And maybe it's just me - but surely you should be welcoming viewings if you're trying to sell a car - saying no to this weekend and pushing people to view in the week - which is difficult for a lot of people. The auction doesn't go on for very long... can't you make yoursf free for just a few days?

You do know that 'private plate' isn't a thing? The DVLA owns them all.
You do know that it’s described as a “private plate” in the advert, smartarseMuch like the people who like to point out the difference between road tax and VED.

You've got until 3pm today to view, otherwise next week (after the auction has finished so no weekend viewings!).The owner, on the other hand, has come across as a right knob.

This chap doesn't deserve a good price for his car imo. Rude and obstructive. Would be a shame if he doesn't get 20 towards his 90k porker. Doesn't matter though because he's got lots of money to run these cars.

Yeah, the appeal to 'authority' didn't sit well, "I've been on ALL these forums/members of these clubs and NEVER known any of those faults..." Hmm.
I caught that as well. I've got the NA version and they are spectacular cars that are actually pretty solid, but every owners page I'm on clearly acknowledges that while they are fairly rare, they can suffer from the issues mentioned. CoolHands said:
How many old duffers are there, that want to buy an aging jag at any price? Not many I wager. No one under 60 would want one.
Quite a few younger folk own them, they do have quite a following. I don't think the X150 has the "old man" image some others do. That said, I'm 31 and I sought out one with wood trim so what do I know Edited by SD_1 on Friday 22 September 11:37
I just think that all of the concerns over the vendor that I have lead me to think there is something he is perhaps hiding . Namely:
Vendor just joined PH 2 weeks ago to sell his car
I can't see where it's been previously advertised recently
Why is he not selling through the clubs he claims to have been a long standing member of? Does he need to retain credibility within those clubs by not selling on a problem car to a fellow member?
Denial of common & well known issues, which he would be well aware of as a member of 3 Jaguar clubs
Making it hard to view the car at a convenient time
Arrogant, defensive & aggressive email response to reasonable questions. Simply a bad attitude from the vendor does not inspire confidence.
I was going to bid but all in all I feel very uncomfortable that this car could be a whole heap of problems from day one. You have to pay your buyer fees to PH, then go to Tamworth to collect, and tax & insure it to get behind the wheel. So you would be into say £2.5K just to find out if it's any good or not. And if it's a problem car, you are stuck with it & are £2.5K down. Of course it might be all good & you could bag a bargain, but do you feel lucky or not, because that's what it'll come down to
I am happy to buy from an online auction, only when i don't see screaming health warnings on a car

My mate has got one and he's 49, although he does wear red fking trousers and tweed!Funk said:
I'd actually be interested in one, especially as I've seen you can fit an infotaiment screen that'll give you Android Auto (albeit at the expense of the phyiscal HVAC controls which is a huge negative).
