Have agreed a budget with the boss of £250 a month and am hoping I can find a Golf GTi for 6+23 for that. Needs to be 5dr.

However, having seen that IMG Leon Cupra deal I'm pretty tempted!!

I don't 'know', but a couple of weeks ago it was leaning towards Dec/ Jan. So I would imagine you're into next year if ordering now.

The only way to make leasing work is to not be fussy on the vehicle, if the price is right and it meets your utility there's nothing more to it in my eyes.
I'll have to 'third' that, very hard to make people understand it though. I got one of the cheap GTi deals, £5044 all in for 2 years for a 5 door DSG, a couple of friends got interested but with the usual,

'Can you find me a similar deal on a GTD'?
'I'm after a BMW/Mercedes but at at that sort of deal, I want the 335d though with the blah blah'

I then try to explain to them that with a particlarly good deal YOU don't choose the car, the manufacturers do - hence the price.

Then there's the, 'I want a Passat, but for that sort of deal for the alltrack (2 of my friends got them), i'd have definitely gone for that'.

me - 'Well why the F*** didnt you then, bit pointless going on and on about it now isn't it!!!!'

A 3+23 at about £195 on a DSG GTI really is one of the cheap deals, cheaper than I have seen. It does baffle me why people don't see that and jump on it if they have even the slightest lean towards a lease vehicle.

I think the comments previously about getting a Leon Cupra over a Peugeot Traveler is a fair one, these 2 vehicles are poles apart and although yes the deal is the driver not the marque this is pushing it a bit far - A 300 BHP hot hatch against what is essentially a Van! Thankfully the OP had some logic in that he could have replaced his X-Trail with it but will do that in the future.

Thanks. Interesting...
I've got the A4 1.4 Avant as well. While it's no performance car it's certainly not slow either. Ridiculously quiet and very happy to cruise at 80.

Came from a 1series with a 1.8 petrol engine and it feels pretty similar. Also faster than wife's previous 2l diesel Sportage and miles quicker than her current 1.6l (160hp) diesel CR-V.

If you're not a performance car enthusiast the deals on the A4 1.4 just now are not to be sniffed at

This looks good for a £48k car - under 10 grand.

Although it appears to be £55 more on their website.....

Not very PH but after years of watching this thread we've finally pulled the metaphorical trigger on a family bus:

3 + 17 @ £185.22 inc vat for 10k miles + £360 fee.

With a massive list price of nearly 39k (it does have all the toys) I make this the equivalent of 14% of list (if it was 24m contract) which seems pretty bloody good. Comes in December. Thanks to the PH hive mind for educating me on the ways of the lease.
One thing for sure is that is a hell of alot of car/bus for the money!
I really fancy one of these but can't think of any reason to justify one. Did your deal include metallic?
If you have 3 plus kids it's a great concept. Bloody practical and yes, that's a bite your hand off price. Nice
Who was the deal with? Great 'bang for your buck', will get one as a company run around

This morning it was cheaper than that at Vehicle Supermarket (whoever they are) as there is no admin fee. Just search on CH&L.

Unless you are talking £250+VAT my advice would be take the Cupra (I have one) as the Golf deals are well above that at present. Given you can get a Cupra manual for £250 on a 1+23 you could probably re-jig the deal and add in some nice options!

Was looking around the Audi Q3 after initially dismissing it - there are not many small quick crossover/small SUV type

Decent price on the 2.0T FSI black Edition (Auto) here:
http://www.rgwcontracts.co.uk/personal-lease-cars/...

£300 on a 3+23 - 8K miles - but 10K miles is probably the better deal at around £309
Works out at £335 per month.

This is around £30 per month more than the 1.4 S Line model - so you are getting quite a bit more kit for your money.

Likely to be replaced next year though - so not sure if the prices will come down much further.

They don't do Dynamic anymore AFAIK? There was a number of people who ordered Cupra Blacks in DG last year but got their colour changed by the factory due to this!

Sorry to be a noob but what is the best way to evaluate a lease cost?

As far as I can see, one takes the sum of all the payments (say 6 month initial + 18 months running + arrangement fee) and divide that by the list price of the car plus options. If that is in the mid-20 percents, then you are on a winner. Over 30%, then a poor deal.

Is that about right?

Hello, I've updated the contracthireandleasing.com greasemonkey script by Rory McCrossan that automatically sorts & displays results by total cost and shows monthly amortised cost.
I'm looking for a new lease at the moment and it's been invaluable. I can't take any credit for it other than adding the url match & slightly updated code that other users noted a while ago in this thread. All merged into one handy update here:

function groupNumber(x) {

Just install Greasemonkey (called TamperMonkey if using Chrome) paste the above into a new filter and you're all set. Should display useful extra info like this:

Basically, yes.

It's up for debate what figure you put on a car purchase price. At worst you can go with the RRP or P11D. I tend to seek out the current manufacturer's "deal" and example finance, and its generally too laborious to go a step further and get a quote from carwow each time.

It's not just the raw numbers for me, there's the big win to be had from cutting out dealers and salesmen - what price would you put on that? biggrin

I have additional spreadsheet columns relating to other niff-naff and trivia including excess mileage costs (so that I can easily compare a 10kmpa with a quoted pence per mileage excess, against a 15kmpa price) and adding options (because I have successfully haggled on options for a factory built car).

Thanks. Where does the haggling come in? Do you phone the lease company and try to argue the monthly down?
