Another vote for the Evo V/VI. In any colour other than silver!

Mine had some money spent on the chassis and was as quick as you'd ever realistically want to travel on the road.
they suffer from chassis rot unless really well cared for though. Hmm still, most viable option out of the lot i reckon..

Yeah that's true. The last time I test drove a car with a salesman next to me was a Civic Type R, and he encouraged me to thrash it everywhere. Otherwise they let me take it out on my own usually.
Agreed, I don't find TT/Golf platform too horrendous to be honest. It's certainly not an 8/10ths and beyond car, but up to that point they're a pretty good steer.
It steers like a computer game, no real feeling, overly light and hard to know how much to put in, at times !

Japanese import could be the answer. With no salt being used in Japan they are normally very clean cars.

I was going to suggest a Nissan R32 GTR but the prices are going loopy since it opened up to the US

Yeah right, about 12 months ago i could have got a low milage r32 for about 13-15k, now we're talking 20+ for the same car, missed the boat there !!

This is what I found. You could cover distances quickly but without enjoying the experience.

Same old issues with the new RS TT.

Amazing performance until you get to the twisty bits

I was so tempted about a year ago but decided against it.

Another fail frown

There is no jack of all trades, possibly only car i can think of is a turbo s2000 or m3/4/5. The tts is good car that is nearly a jack of all trades, but it misses that 10%, evos are not plush, supras skylines are a bit council, mx5 is too girly, merceds do some decent stuff but bork factor is immense, no such thing as perfect car

Im sure you can make prerty decent 400bhp s2000 with 12k or go up to 18k and look for a v8 rx8
