Agreed Ross. The alloys are awful too IMHO. Love the big S but I’d pass on this one I think.

I'd counter that a road trip with 4 people will be compromised anyway. Best send them by air and rejoice in the solitude. (Or use the opportunity to travel with a gorgeous chick that isn't yours whilst the wife is distracted.)

Yes, as a solo traveller I enjoy the 'freedom' of choosing where and when with little planning other than a bed for the night.

Agreed. I will add that road trips are more fun with an engaging companion though, romantic attachment or not. Just brings it to life a bit more I think.

I have no idea why, because it ticks no boxes and doesn't suit either our lifestyle or our desire for reasonable economy in fuel and repairs..........
but I feel a real need to own one of those while I still have a licence. They just scream relaxed comfort and style to me.

I shall have to presuade Erin Dawes that if I sell the TVR and the Saab estate it would make a sensible purchase.
We will still have a Nisan X Trail for all the rubbish shifting, dog, towing and utility jobs.
And both dogs are over 12 years old, so sadly we won't need a dog-mobile too much longer.

I ran an R129 500 for 5 years, longest I've kept any car in 34 years driving and was a delight (had the pano roof which made a great winter coupe). It was as you say very relaxed motoring and in V8 guise no slouch. The only downside is the removable hard top is comically heavy which is fine if you have the space for a crane (yes you could buy a specialist crane) but not if you parked in the street and had to carry it 50 yds and through the house to the shed.
